denying trans kids hrt when they're sure of which puberty they want to go through is also an act of oppression. even if puberty blockers are available, we're not protecting kids by denying them the opportunity to go through puberty at the same time as their peers
"what if they go through physical changes that they later regret?" we allow cis kids to take that risk. in fact, most of them are never even given a choice and told they might regret it. just educate trans kids about what hrt will and won't do for them, then let them decide
hey can everyone do me a favor and put in the tags why they chose their name? even if you don't go by a chosen name irl, you can put why you chose your online name.

Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
“Don’t kid yourself” would be a great slogan for birth control pills

ooh sorry, didn't see you already had some asks. ok instead of the ones you already answered, 20, 27, 29!
20. what's your favourite beverage?
Water baybeee. I don't really drink much but water but thankfully it's nice. Especially from a filter jug in the fridge.
27. what's your favourite household chore? Ugh. I guess vaccuming? It's easy and the effort:payoff ratio is very good. You feel like you've done something.
29. do you have houseplants and how are you at keeping them alive?
Yup! I currently have three: a peace lily, a snake plant and a spider plant. They're all pretty low maintenance, so I just water them about once a week or whenever they're looking droopy. This place I moved into a few months back has a lot of good sun, so it's a lot easier to keep stuff alive. I need to get a bunch of clippings from a friend so I can become the plant lesbian I was born to be tbh

2, 5, 13, 14, 23! (for ageing tumblr base ask game!)
skipping the ones i've already done!
13. what are your hobbies?
Video games, building gunpla, watching movies/tv/anime, collecting records, going for walks, dating????
14. what's a hobby you'd like to get into? Knitting! I like crafty stuff and it seems fun and relaxing. And then you get to be that bitch who is like "yeah I made this"
23. what's the coolest place you've visited? I really liked Amsterdam tbh. The museums there were amazing, you could spend days and still not see everything. Also just a lovely city to walk around in.
