“Resolutions are not really my thing” Martha admits, scratching under the bandanna around her hair. “But.. I guess I do want to make it a point to.. get out a little more, be.. I dunno, a little closer to.. t… ...some people in particular.” She cleared her throat, keeping her eyes low. “Maybe. I’m.. I’m still not sure if it’s a good idea to. Some people would probably just be happier without me around, complicating things.”

“My new years resolution..? Well..” Lyle gave a sheepish smile and a soft laugh “Call it cheesy, but, uh.. It’s- t-to make the upcoming year Jay’s happiest yet.” Yep, he was blushing, “While I don’t know what the future has in store for us, I promise to do my best. No matter what happens, I’m always going to love Jay, and I’m always going to make sure he’s happy- even if I have to fight tooth and nail for it. It’s worth it for him”
“I usually fail my resolutions” Nova admitted with a chuckle, fidgeting with the seam of their oversized sweater “But.. This time, I actually have something worth fighting for, and that’s Lily’s love and happiness. This year, I’m going to spoil the hell out of her- and yes, I mean more than I have before. She’s going to be so spoiled, and so loved, like, I’m talking every fiber of my being, and thats a lot of fibers, I’m tall.” Yep, they were getting a little rambly, but not in the usual loud, high-energy way they do, no, this was softer, quieter, more.. from the heart. “So, yeah, that’s my goal. …Someone else share theirs now, please”

A soft laugh left him at being called by his last name. Only cops really did that, but it was nice to hear it in a more positive tone and setting. It was something he… kind of needed, after everything.
“Merry Christmas to you too, Martha. Glad Mom and I could spend your first one with you!” – 💀 \
“I can tell. And don’t think I don’t know why you chose this of all things to paint. Still, you did amazing, I’ll find a good safe place to hang it up at.”
An amused huff left her, the corners of her lips turning up just a tad. Larry and his mom had become family before the sibs could even realize it, even to Martha. She felt safe around them, honestly.
“Glad to have you guys around, too. It means a lot to us.” She paused, eyeing the metalwork in his hand “Oh, and.. It’s not just a sculpture, by the way. I know you.. are more into the heavy metal stuff, but uh..”
“There’s a music box on the bottom. You don’t have to use it, only thing I could think of to put in it is that one song you showed me when we first hung out. ..Obviously, can’t really get the same metal rock sound out of a music box, but..”
