{ ✂ - - -; Adonis wished they had slept in. The news was inevitable, of course, but if they had been smart, had just ignored the click of the door being unlocked and just went back to sleep, it could have waited a few hours until they had a decent amount of rest. Or, as decent as they could get, after being locked in an infirmary all night.
But with their luck, after what happened to them yesterday and that night, of course the first news they hear that morning would be of a murder.
The first thing they did, completely reasonably, was lock themselves in their room. In their defense, it was solitude, or a panic attack. They didn't even know Miki, had never talked to him but...but his murder still hit hard. It's--he's--he's the first murder, he's actually dead. Someone killed him.
And all of a sudden their predicament became all that more real.
Their life was at stake here, all their lives were in danger. Someone just died, and it was someone among those fourteen other students in the school who killed him.
Out of everyone here, one of them is a murderer. One of them killed Miki Ikari last night, and--and--...
They couldn't trust anyone.
One of them is the killer, and they didn't know who. They couldn't trust anyone.
But they couldn't very much isolate themselves from everyone, it would only backfire and make them seem suspicious. They could ask for alibis but--could they really trust anyone's word?
No.
But they had to try something.
And it was either extremely fortunate, or extremely unfortunate that they ran into someone three steps out their door. Trying to hide their alarm and skipped heartbeats, they managed to form some sort of a calm expression and some semblance of a smile, before greeting the student with a cheerful, ❝Hello.❞
