a little somethin’ under the cut
“I’m really drawn to strong female characters. My mom was that for me, raising her children by herself. To me, that’s all I’ve seen my whole life in my family: very strong women.”
silver, morph:
“that’s for me to know and you to find out,” they replied, a sly smirk on their lips. “oh, in that case.” there was no use in dwelling on the random act of kindness. when someone offered to pay for your food or drink, you said yes. “i just wanted a muffin. a chocolate one.” morph grinned at the girl. “thanks, by the way. who knows, if your horoscope’s right, i might be able to pay you back somehow.”
Amanda wrinkled her nose. “Cute,” she said, curtly. She nodded towards the muffin tower, accepting her drink from the man behind the counter. “And a chocolate muffin for my new Aries friend here,” she said, twisting to face Morph with a flip of her hair. “Horoscopes are always right, kid. The stars don’t lie.” Pinching off a piece of the muffin, Amanda popped it in her mouth before handing the baked good over. “Maybe you will.”
benson, attina:
Struggling to keep her eyes open as the line slowly edged forward, Attina was in desperate need of her morning cup of coffee. She hadn’t been able to sleep the night before, and with a long day of errands ahead of her and a set at the Rose Lounge, she needed the extra boost. Taking a step back as the girl in front of her turned in her direction, Attina blinked several times before she answered, “September 14th… why?”
“Because big changes are coming soon. That big break you’ve been waiting for is on it’s way. Keep doing what you’re doing and fortune will favor you.” Taking her latte from the barista, Amanda made to leave but turned back to face Attina. “I know you. You perform at the Rose Lounge, right?” She only asked as a general rule. She was a Fate and The Fates never forgot a face. Amanda had been taken on plenty of dates to the Rose Lounge. Most of them duds but the drinks were free and the entertainment was good.
darling, wendy:
( °. “ YOU CAN ? “, THE brunette asked as she scrunched her nose, bringing her face down to her shoulder as if she tried to see whether there was a scent on her. “ oh – really ? i… thanks, i won’t. “, wendy said with a tiny smile.
“Mhm,” the Fate confirmed, tapping her nails against the counter. “And your beau is a Scorpio? If I’m not mistaken. Interesting combination. Though not at all surprising. Who can resist the bad boy meets good girl cliché?”
Guess I’m contagious, it’d be safest if you ran. Fuck, that’s what they all just end up doing in the end.
darling, wendy:
( °. WENDY WAS COMPLETELY caught off guard as the woman in front of her turned around, barking some question at her without a warning. with her back slightly bent backwards and her eyes big with surprise, the brunette stared right at the angry looking woman. “ erm… “, she managed to bring out as she tried her hardest to collect her thoughts in order to answer the question. “ the second of september… why ? “, she asked, slightly wary.
A grin tugged at the corner of Amanda’s lips. “I knew it. I can practically smell the Virgo on you. Don’t get your usual today. Unless you want to wear it.”
silver, morph:
“um.” morph paused, looking at the girl in front of her. “well, actually, it’s today!” they grinned, hoping that answer would be enough. they just wanted to buy a muffin for themself, a nice way to start their own birthday. not a lot of people knew it was today, so it felt kind of weird telling this semi-stranger, but they’d asked? maybe they would think it was a joke. “april fools!”
Amanda raised an eyebrow. “So, is it or is it not your birthday?” Pivoting on her heel, she made room at the counter for Morph to stand beside her. “Because if it is-- my horoscope said that paying it forward will go a long way today and I don’t fuck with karma so, whatever you want is on me,” she said, digging through her purse for her card.

mcenery, atta:
Atta could have easily made her coffee on the office’s machine, they even had one for visitors. But there was something about this shop that called her, maybe it was the taste, maybe it was the fresh chocolate croissants. She checked the hour on her phone and sighed, she would be a few minutes late from her break, but this was worth it. The young woman in front of her was ordering, all was going well until… “October, twenty fourth”, she responded automatically, taking a step back, “I think I’m a Scorpio or a LIbra, I-I’m not sure?”, she continued to babble.
Amanda pursed her lips, still eyeing the blonde up and down. Turning back to the confused barista, she finished her order and slid her card across the counter. Crumpling her receipt in her hand, Amanda stepped aside to allow the woman behind to order. “You know, it’s very admirable. What you’re trying to do for this town, Atta McEnery. But there are forces outside of your control and they do not care for you.” Picking up her latte, Amanda took a quick sip before continuing. Her lipstick leaving a print of her lips on the lid. “Tread carefully. You have much more to lose than you think.”
