some guy comes out and says he might pick up anadius' work but his first course of action is to tell people to not harrass him and that the sims community is "technically challenged", meaning it wasn't just anadius who was being a meanie (I saw you guys playing offended over the years) but that this is what outsiders genuinely see in us so perhaps it is time for some introspection
When will the community finally get off their asses and start to learn the bare fucking minimum of tech-savviness 101? Some of you act like you believe people are born with an innate understanding of computers and you just missed the memo when god was handing out tech-savviness vouchers. NO. People are tech-savvy because they took the time to research and learn and MADE MISTAKES in the past, which some of you are flat out refusing to do. This is embarrassing. This is the reputation we have built for ourselves. I don't care how hard or scary you think it is, challenging your brain every now and then is good and healthy and needs to be done lest all you guys get dementia at 50 for being too comfortable with being served by others all the time. You are caging yourselves with your low self-efficacy, how are you not feeling suffocated by that?
It's okay to ask people for help so you can learn how to do things, but this service-mentality and the "ooh i'm not tech-savvy" excuses have got to stop.
Earlier this year, Itch.io and Steam had to take down games due to pressure from companies like Mastercard, Visa, Paypal, and Stripe.
Mastercard, Visa, and other payment processors are still targeting material they deem obscene - whether or not it actually is.
We need to start calling again. Even if you don't like NSFW stuff or dislike porn - porn and nsfw is only the start of what they'll go after.
Among Mastercard's list of "high fraud risk" subjects in relation to Mastercard Threat Intelligence are the following:
Vtubing
Adult Content (which they define very loosely)
Tabletop Games
Video Games & their platforms
And likely more.
They're likely targeting political activism now in addition to this, and people who speak out against the companies. Notably now, Ana Valens is repeatedly having her payment processing accounts and platforms taken down or flagged as potential fraud - Buy Me A Coffee, Throne, Ko-Fi, Patreon - and in some cases, customer support from these platforms are citing information that hasn't been put on their platforms when explaining why they've targeted her accounts.
Completely SFW accounts of hers have been targeted, likely due to her speaking up about what the payment processors are doing and because of what she makes as a creative. She is at risk of debanking. This happening to her means that other creators - Vtubers, game devs of both video games and tabletop games, creatives, sex workers - are likely at risk of the same. For many, it's already happening to them.
Companies and corporations should not have the power to censor what people say and do, or where their money goes - political power like this should not lie in their hands.
We need to start calling the payment processors again and making noise. Contact people in your circles, talk to people, spread the word. Contact your representatives about censorship laws. Spend less money this holiday season.
This is not just about sex work or NSFW. This is about people's right to decide what they spend their money on, and in some cases, people's right to access their finances. It's about creative expression and whether or not what we make gets censored, about what we get to say online.

my dog, my whole heart, was diagnosed with a brain tumor yesterday and the safest and most effective way for us to treat it and extend her life is with targeted radiation treatment.
though i have a decent income, i have already paid out of pocket a for several vet exams needed to find the tumor as well as another major surgery she needed this year. i also just had to move cross-country. that said, my savings are tapped out and it looks like weāll have to take out a massive loan to try and cover things.

Why I need help:
At home, I have 12 cats who all have a disease that can cause blindness, 5 of them have already gone blind, and 2 others are losing one eye, I've started treating 4 of them, so far.
I also have a small personal shelter or refuge where I take care of all of my neighborhood cats, it's an abandoned yard that I cleaned up and around which I put a fence to protect the cats from cars, dogs, cold and rain. Right now, I have 27 cats (The number changes quite often), 14 of them are young and not allowed to leave the shelter, and the others are free to go in and out as they please.
As you can imagine, taking care of this cute furry crowd costs a lot of money. Sometimes I manage on my own, and sometimes I need help. And right now, I really really need your help.

Im like extremely bitter at the fact that people on my dash who used to very intentionally ignore my and others Palestine posts for 2 years straight are now yelling about the issue because of what they did to Greta.... while this revelation isn't new, it's very true. while on a social media detox, I played a bit of sims.
completely vanilla, only taking screenshots when something funny happened more out of a reflex than a need to document something and it felt freeing and fun.
while I did have a mod or two (cutting ads from home screen launch for one...,) I disabled the packs I didn't love and just played.
when consuming other people's highly curated and edited gameplay and screenshots you begin to wonder ā why doesn't my game look like that? why don't I do that? why don't I have that downloaded?
before long you've been glued to someone else's work whether subconsciously or on purpose and it becomes less 'inspiration' and more like idolizing, agonizing, and indecision.
all of this to say: play the game if you want to. embrace the quirks of the gameplay, realize that it might not be the same thing others post but if you remove the self imposed rat race of (a lot, not all) of simblr ā you can have fun.
