At night, we like to exist in our room together doing absolutely nothing but always next to each other. And when I say absolutely nothing, we’re always absolutely doing something. A couple of adhd kids with an endless amount of optimism to create constantly and to always share willingly. I look forward to our debriefs, and our debriefs that turns into dream talk that turns into discussion talk that turns into silence and a bunch of “wait what’s” and “say it again I wasn’t listening’s” listenings because how many times can we distracted mid sentence/ walk out of a room because we forgot we were even having a conversation. We’ll probably pick it up three days later in the exact same spot ready to remember and be grateful together. I am grateful we are together. I could have spent the rest of my life just wandering around without any roots or any walls or any place to display my assemblages of refusing to be dead, living as a fossil flower. But we found a home, and a wall, and a bed to share with a self sufficient hot spot heater of a mate who would tickle my feet if they knew I hated it. At night, we like to lay out heads down next to each other just to be the first thing we see in the morning.
Early Wednesday morning spent talking about color palettes // “ DUSTY BLUE “ __ HEX: # 80849A __ or __ HEX: # A4A6BB — and should it be paired with black or grey?
one of my oldest and dearest friends; she’s getting married soon and my heart is so full for her.
Meditate on home /hōm/ —and what does it mean to share a bedroom with someone? To share a /ˈbedˌro͝om/ room a room for sleep, and solace, and community, and and three too many cats, and stepping on each others socks but always looking forward to being together.
The backyard of our first house. A /ˌbakˈyärd/ summary for what it means/takes to live in the world. Unwanted junk that just keeps being there, a mess you made 3 months ago, way to close of a proximity to selfish outsiders and the forever potential that a tree will fall on you.
The current state of my desktop.
For as long as I’ve been creating work i’ve never had an actual portfolio (and I refuse to count the bs I use applied to art school). I’ve definitely posted some of my work here and there, but I’ve never curated a place where you could go and just check out what I do. There has always just been really fucking random bits and pieces of what I make scattered around the internet— but damn,,, I’m sleepin on so much content. I think because I’m obnoxious and the type of creator who makes and makes and makes but then then moves on and kind of forgets to share much, let alone consolidate the massive massive archive of stuff Ive made. BUT! right now Ive finally started to tackle finding/updating/reediting/sharing all of this work AND! I finally have a legit legit domain (no more wix ad bs) AND a location to host. THIS MEANS::: expect lots of photo albums, project albums, design projects, videos soundtracks and like ALOT MORE because I wasn’t kidding when I said the amount of “unpublished” work I have is.
Obnoxious.
I’ve been trying for YEARS to build a website/portfolio but I’m too picky and too obsessive/perfectionist-ist and definitely way to anal about the categorization and layout of the work. BUT 2020 IS GOING TO BE/ IS CURRENTLY BEING WILLED INTO the year I finally fucking do it. I’ve been too apprehensive about leaving Kansas City because I knew the current state of my portfolio is LAUGHABLE for someone with my talent. I didn’t think I could make connections and get jobs because I had no way to prove to anyone the merit of my work. But immediately!! after I quit my horrible day job, I kicked my ass into gear and set a bold goal (or at least what feels like a bold goal to me), to move to/ or be in the process of moving to California by the end of this calendar year. And damn it! I’m going to make my portfolio/ website the most beautiful and flawless piece of design I’ve ever created and what I know it has the potential to be. Then I’m going to take my ass to California and gsd. You might be thinking, “gee, that’s practically a whole year from now, do you really suppose building your portfolio will actually take you that long?” The answer is yes. Probably. Ugh because I’m such a slow editor. The absolute slowest fuckin turtle paced adhd brain fart. Besides, there are a couple of projects that I HAVE to do/ finish before I can jet anyways so I got time. Anyway,, enough rambling here’s the link. CLOUDRADAR.org
I’ve been obsessively tracking radar and weather patterns on my phone for the better part of the last year. Scrolling through my camera roll is often like scrolling through an archive of the weather channel; screen shots and downloads of us weather maps, random graphics of the average temperatures in August 2000, documents and arbitrary data points from the amount of snow fall in the norther hemisphere between the years 1973 and 1988. I don’t know why, but I have this strange impulse to collect and archive and recently I’ve started making work inspired by my weird collection.
Right now, it’s manifesting as a small series of graphic album covers titled “DOPPLER”. I’ve made two versions of this particular one, a red and a blue (the blue version is the original and I will post it later on). At some point I plan to turn these designs into a legit project and release a small series of weather soundtracks (because I also have an obnoxious archive of weather sounds I’ve recorded as well). So I guess stay tuned if your in the market for some calming thunder sounds.

This is the first design project I created. A faux graphic album cover design, using weather tracking and winter radar as inspiration and content. I digitally stitched together several forecast maps and created the original backdrop for the album, I titled “DOPPLER.”
Feeling liberated in 2020, welcome to my brain dump.
I’ve been doing random contract work and freelancing (predominantly photography related) here and there probably since I was in high school, which in 2020, was probably about 5 years ago now. But still, most of my real work (as in putting money in my bank account consistently real) came from doing day jobs like coaching soccer or working in a chocolate shop. Once I got to college, freelancing opportunities became a little more frequent, yes, but even after I graduated I still always needed something on the side to support myself.
But no matter what that other job was, it always drained me and left me feeling like too much of my time and energy was being misused, mismanaged, and wasted. If I have learned anything over the years, its how important it is to protect those things aspects of yourself, if you want to be a successful creatorand just a happy individual in general, you have to properly maintain and protect your time and energy.
So after working for so many terrible men, and terrible places, and for so many poorly managed companies, at the beginning of 2020 I quit all of my day jobs and dove head first into freelancing like I never had before.
I knew what I no longer was willing to for money. I started experimenting with all the creative ways I could look for work and get paid for my actual talents. Like I said, i’ve always been a photographer, but instead of jumping right out of the gate into the world of being a profitable photographer I jumped into the world of design. Why? I’m not sure.
I just sat down at what ever tool I was using to create and instead of making work the same way I always have, I started making work unlike anything I had ever thought before! I’ve always made photographs and shorts films but I started making album covers and typography designs?! I don’t know where this came from because I’ve never made this kind of work before but I quickly just let my brain take off and create in any direction it wanted.
I felt/ feel liberated.
A new world of possibility for my art has opened up. I’m not sure where its going but I’m going to be tracking my progress here. Photographs, videos, designs, typography, motion graphics, writings, documentation, all of it— anything my brain can produce right now, i’m brain dumping here.
In addition, in an effort to reground myself and reconnect with the world around me I want to document daily— then share those images and thoughts on here as well.
