Then went on to try and get back the one thing from his childhood he considered a friend? And how when he finally DID find that balloon, he abandoned him for real, just like everyone else in his life?

Remember how like, IMMEDIATELY after that, he sucked up his feelings of hurt and betrayal, turned it into anger, rejected his childhood companion and called Perry the Platypus his best friend?

Remember how Perry the Platypus listened to his tragic backstories, helped him through the pain of his past, and is helping him forge a better future? Remember how Doofenshmirtz has called Perry the Platypus his nemesis, his best friend, his wingman, his rock, his partner and his family?

Remember how throughout the series, Perry helped Doofenshmirtz reconnect with his teenage daughter, encouraged him to talk with his ex-wife and let himself admit to others when he needs help, how when Doofenshmirtz made a robot with the human ability to learn specifically to kill Perry they ended up raising this robot person together like the son he never had, how in the last season he worked up the courage to reconcile with his abusive father because he had Perry by his side, and how in the series finale he gave up evil in order to keep his new family together?

Remember how at the end of the series, Doofenshmirtz doesn’t need a girlfriend to finally be happy with his life? Because let me tell you that fucks me up in all the best ways
