starring :
xavier yoon : jung jaehyun. vice president of gamma gamma tau. twenty5. resident boy failure & school's dirtbag. pinterest.
cecelia lets out a soft, breathy laugh that sounds amused more than anything else, even if the way her fingers tighten briefly around the ring on her hand suggests she’s grounding herself; her gaze drifts past xavier for half a second before returning to him with deliberate calm as she smooths the front of her skirt and lifts her chin, composure settling back into place. “ wouldn't you like to know? ” she retorts lightly, tone subtly flirty, as one manicured hand lifts in a small, dismissive flick between them, practiced enough to look effortless. cecelia turns slightly toward the zbz table, but doesn't fully step away, keeping her shoulder still angled toward xavier. she reaches for a flyer and aligns it with unnecessary care, fingertips brushing the edge of the table before pulling back as if catching herself. “ you might want to worry about your own mess first, ” the zeta adds pleasantly, eyes flicking toward the chaos of the gamma table before returning to him, her smile soft and composed, the kind that never quite reveals its intent. “ i don't see how you'll attract any pledges if they can't even see anything. ”
everything about the two feels like a direct contrast, right down to the poised posture and intentional gestures of cecilia and the brazen impulsivity and less than proper stature of xavier. it's funny— especially after seeing the other side of the coin. there isn't an ounce of him that's surprised, yet it doesn't stop him from pushing anyway. “mhm, isn't that why i asked?” he composes himself, if only to not laugh at her act, choosing rather to scoff at the adjustment as he's met with her shoulder like any other gamma. in front of him is only the cecelia everyone knew, the one who'd turn heads if people saw fraternizing with the antithesis of herself too closely. he smirks at the deflection, chaos ensuing as usual with more flyers shredded and stomped into the concrete floor than on the table. he only gives them a brief look, turning his head back to the blonde. “i don't need to attract anyone, they all come on their own anyway.” voice brims with ego— except xavier knows he isn't wrong, on multiple fronts. and even when his hands are ( mostly ) to himself, his mouth is still shameless as ever. “i'm sure you would know something about that.”
quinn barely had time to register the arm around her shoulders before she laughed, the sound spilling out easy and familiar as she leaned into it like it was muscle memory. “you know me ... aggressively optimistic.” her eyes flicked to the cluster of freshmen wandering past them, wide eyed and clearly one wrong turn away from tears. she watched them for a second, lips pressing together, putting on her best impression of responsibility. “i mean, technically,” the brunette started, straightening a little, “we’re supposed to stay. guide them. be role models or whatever.” she paused, before her face lit up with sudden, dramatic realization. “but also, if i don’t rebel now, what am i supposed to tell my future kids?” she gasped softly, clutching the lanyard at her chest. “like, sorry mommy never skipped orientation duty, she just stood in the sun and followed the rules?” quinn slipped out from under his arm just long enough to shove the clipboard onto the table, already half turning toward him again. “absolutely not.” she hummed, pointing a finger at him like she meant it, even as she started walking. “if anyone asks, we’re on a ... morale boosting walk. for the freshmen.” she grinned up at him. “deal?”
it's unfortunate he's been sent to do dirty work that was helping freshly turned adults, especially considering the only freshman's xavier was interested in were the fresh set of gamma pledges he'd have to boss around. “yeah, you look so happy to be here. almost considered leaving all the fun for you,” sarcasm brims in his tone, eyes tracking the more worrying sets of freshmen who still hadn't figured out how to open google maps. “role models, of course. college is the pinnacle of learning responsibility,” he recites, just like one of his academic advisors had said. except give it a week, and these people will be searching for the nearest party and googling how to hide their locations from their parents. “they're gonna think you're so lame,” he tsks, shaking his head. frankly, it's a little concerning this was the train of thought leading them here, but who was he to interject? he's more the kind to go along with the absurdity anyway. “riight ... moral boosting. i've got just the thing for it too.” he fishes out a plastic bag of special gummies that had been collecting warmth in his pocket for the past hour, popping one into his mouth. “you want?”
luciana's cheeks hurt while they raise from the smile that remains on her face caused by xavier. whenever she was accompanied by his presence, it was no different that she'd be charmed just like every other person that he's come across, she was sure of it. she couldn't try to be different even if she wanted to. ❝ i mean, i think it would make perfect sense for me to volunteer my face to get pied... do you think i'll get the short end of the sick if i volunteer? also, i beg to differ about the pie not being able to hurt that bad. maybe, i should throw you in as a volunteer? like special treatment, would you be down?"
she couldn't help but tease him a little, she enjoyed their banter and wanted to make the most it whenever she had the chance to speak to him.
it's not hard to grin a little more when he's around luciana, and it isn't just because she's a pretty girl. she's sweet, with him at the very least. and xavier isn't exactly blind to it— if anything, it's encouraging. and contrary to popular opinion, he also happens to think he's a delight to be around anyway. “you're too cute for anyone to mess with you. but if the competition is who gets pied the most, you might get beat out. it's more fun doing it to someone you don't like,” he shrugs, giving a passing thought with a few names crossing over his mind. a brow raises at her idea, chuckling before leaning in a little. “special treatment, huh? how special?” he asks, curiosity sufficiently piqued. it'd certainly be a good way to bring in money— even if he had a feeling she didn't see it that way. “maybe. only if you help clean me up after.”
cecelia takes exactly ten seconds to herself, retreating just enough to stand near the back of the zbz booth, where she can see everything without being seen too closely. the booths blur into a careful grid of color and ambition; voices overlapping, laughter rising and falling, hands exchanging flyers and promises. she tracks it all instinctively - who lingers, who leads, who follows. her phone buzzes in her hand with updates she’d already predicted: a headcount adjustment, a reminder about schedules, a note about a girl who tried too hard to catch the attention of zbz's sisters. none of it surprises her. it never does. she is mid-reply when she senses someone hovering close enough to intrude, hesitant enough to wait for permission. cecelia lifts her gaze slowly, assessing in a single glance before offering a small, measured smile. “ if you’re going to ask something, ” she says, voice calm and unhurried. “ now’s the window. ” brown hues drop to phone screen again, silently letting the person know she means it. “ i only have one. ”
contrary to popular belief, xavier is a big fan of orientation week. it's when he'll get his first pickings at who will be doing his laundry for the semester, potential bids ready to be mentored by someone who had no business doing it. their table is a mess, especially in comparison to the zetas, flyers thrown everything, solo cup that was half - alcohol, half - dirt, and an absence of anyone taking any bit of it seriously. he uses that tenured vice president sense of his to see things were as normal as they were going to be, leaving things to be attended to by the members. of course, who is without giving a little friendly stop to the other houses? he chuckles — no, almost laughs, abruptly brushed off by the queen of prim and proper. at least, to everyone else. “aren't you just so kind,” he drawls out, mocking and baiting the reaction. she'd basically given him an opening anyway, he couldn't be blamed for anything he said. “what about the window in your room, is that one open?”
OPEN STARTER - @ ANYONE.
LOCATION - BLUEBIRD CAFÉ.
it's the beginning of fall semester at cypress grove, no place on campus was safe and away from prying eyes, especially now that there's going to be prying cameras. luciana was lucky enough to secure a seat in the crowded madness that was bluebird café. she had her macbook propped open while she stared at her screen and actively-- did nothing. her mind's blank and while her screen wasn't, because it had a visual poster design, she felt like she was staring at plain document on screen. as president of sigma, she was supposed to be having the final say when it came to overseeing what works and what doesn't so that when the execution of sigma's plans comes out, it's not only done but it's seen as one for the books. and yet, she didn't know what missing from the document she was looking at, it was supposed to be a designed poster promotional poster for an upcoming outdoor movie night for the campus.
maybe she was just being nitpicky. either way, her thoughts on the matter is interrupted when a presence approaches near her seating area.
luciana glances up at the person and doesn't hesitate to smile, ❝ oh hi! random but-- ❞ she quickly stands up and pulls out a paper from her purse, extending her hand out to the person so that they can take the paper, ❝ cypress events is stacked for fall, i'm currently in the works of approving a pie-a-president type of competition for the campus-- with money donations heavily involved of course, so that it's used for the greater good, because why not? what are your thoughts on how this flyer looks and do you think this competition could be problematic for sigma and the campus overall-- because what if the pie throwing gets aggressive and then hands are thrown and then-- just an overall mess that i can't represent-- that i won't. that sigma won't. you know? ❞
if there were deadlines or plans xavier was meant to be preparing for the upcoming fall semester, he was none the wiser to it. and why would he be? the fun of being a gamma was doing whatever they wanted, and leaving the occasional party planning to the people that actually wanted to do it. he'll thank their social chair with a drink one of these days. for now he's off to get one of his own—nonalcoholic, anyway. some overpriced latte he'd gotten free after claiming he 'forgot his wallet' to the barista with a charming smile.
it's long after, maybe on his way almost put that he sees luciana, who's actually taken to doing work in a cafe. his interest is peaked, flyer thrust forth into his hands and a slurry of words follows that leaves him letting out a chuckle. “are you volunteering your own face to get pied?” he asked, amused even as his eyes scan over the sheet of paper. she's thinking about it way too much. “nah, it sounds fun. feel like you'd have to be a loser to start a fight at something for charity anyway.” if this really did happen, xavier would count his blessings he never cared for the coveted throne of gamma. “it's a pie, ana. can't hurt that bad, even if the zetas and omegas are a bunch of babies.” he doesn't mention that some of the rowdy are from his own fraternity, though he imagines they'd get a kick out of throwing pies at lucas more than starting shit.
who : quinn + anyone [ open ]
where : founders green
when : monday — welcome fair
quinn had been assigned to the freshman welcome committee this year as repayment for last semester’s mysteriously missing philanthropy hours, which sounded awful until you realized it mostly meant standing by a folding table in the sun and pointing vaguely while saying things like, go foxes! she was stationed near the quad with a clipboard she hadn’t looked at once, doing her best impression of someone who knew where things were. “okay, so orientation check in is … over there?” she said, pointing confidently in a direction that immediately made her second guess herself. “unless that’s the dining hall. um. they kind of all look the same at first. you’ll get it soon enough.” she flashed an encouraging smile just as her phone buzzed in her pocket, the vibration startling her enough to make her jump. she glanced down long enough to read REMINDER: philanthropy hours are being monitored this semester before groaning and shoving it back where it came from. “love that for me,” quinn muttered, straightening up as a somewhat familiar face drifted closer. “hi! welcome to cgu!” she chirped, nearly tripping over her own feet as she adjusted the lanyard. “what are you looking for? dorms? advising? your sense of purpose? because i can definitely help with … one of those. maybe.”
he's managed to find himself at yet another orientation fair for the third year in a row. xavier thinks the whole stick pulling game is rigged against his favor ( he would know— he's rigged it and gotten screwed every time ). but his plan to get through the day is foolproof, as in directing anyone who looked annoying to someone else. sometimes he vaguely points in a random direction and hope to be left to his own devices. whatever, getting lost was a part of the freshman experience. “don't you look happy to be out here,” he teases in the midst of seeing quinn, slinging an arm around her shoulder and peeking down at the clipboard. he'd lost his own above fifteen minutes ago— as in, threw it in the trash. “you don't really wanna be here, do you? shit's kinda pointless, the freshies should just thug it out like adults.” a few fresh faces pass buy them, looks of confusion all around while their heads swivel back and forth. “wanna get out of here?”
𓂂 𓇼˚。 • ( jung jaehyun , cis man , he/him ) ─── was that xavier yoon i just saw sprinting across the quad ? weird — the dirtbag didn’t leave behind their usual trail of showing up to class once a week and high, waking up in a bed that’s not his, boyish grins with bad intentions, expensive chains and rings with five dollar t-shirts … according to their student file, they’re a twenty five year old senior who’s been studying physics ever since they moved from houston, texas. as a/the vice president of gamma gamma tau, xavi, is known for being easygoing, but anyone who’s spent a few late nights listening to them blast kiss me right by keshi, around low tide, knows just how irresponsible they can get as the semester drags on. this year, they’ve been oddly obsessed with designing tattoos, typical for a leo sign, but still — every time i see them on mtv, all i can think about is that watermelon flavored vape they’re always carrying around.

gifted is what they call him. someone who excelled in academics and sports, someone who was more than capable of doing whatever he set his mind to. xavier had always gone along with it as a kid, getting good grades, varsity in track and soccer, student body president and salutatorian. except nobody really tells you how much it burns you out. gets into a good school, soccer scholarship and a spot on the starting roster. it's nothing special that makes him fall apart. at least that's what he'd tell you. maybe it's the freedom of adulthood that makes him throw the want to please everyone away. maybe it was the halfway into his graduation speech when he realizes he doesn't care about any of this. he ditches the optional summer training, spends the few months before college getting high, partying, cheating on the girlfriend that his parents adored.
becoming a gamma felt like the first choice of his own. rowdy, drunken parties every other night, brothers with so little ambition and drive. people who just wanted to live. it isn't surprising that his college career takes a dive. makes it three semesters on the soccer team before getting kicked out after failing a drug test. finishes his sophomore year on academic probation and a counselor recommendation to find another major. he shrugs it off, knows he can blame things going wrong on himself and not his capabilities.
by junior year ( the first junior year, that is ), he's got a reputation. bad news. kind of guy people tell their friends to not let stay over after a fun night, even when it happens anyway. he's charming when he wants to be, when it benefits him the most. it's the only reason he passes his classes by the skin of his teeth, even if he's managed to fail a few along the way. he lucks into the vice president of gamma position a few years ago, only to get re - elected … then re - elected again. ( not exactly the kind to interject on something trivial ). xavier thinks it has something to do with how many of his littles he's influenced into spreading terror on campus. he's persuasive when he wants too. after all, there's still a smart guy underneath all the trash.
