people trying to justify SM’s treatment of Super Junior “because it’s business” need to realise that with proper promotion, Super Junior will be raking in bigger profits than they already are.
like the bad rep that they let Super Junior have has constantly hurt their image and a factor in the idea that “SM idols are talentless” because people literally do not have a clue how great of a vocalist kyuhyun is, how much ryeowook simply slays and yesung living up to his name and being the ost king. Also, the beauty that is KRY together even without a korean album. bonus, not only do the main vocals sing well but so does Sungmin. Zhou Mi is also amazing.
they keep sleeping on the dancer that is eunhyuk, who although doesn’t really show off and tend to be comical and gag-centric, along with shindong. dance line in general is pretty decent. Additionally, Shindong does choreography too.
people also seem to conveniently forget that Super Junior composes and writes their own lyrics. Donghae in particular has composed all of these. Siwon too and Heechul. Zhou Mi wrote all the Mandarin lyrics of Rewind and composed this. Henry is part of Noizebank and they pretty much did his entire Fantastic EP. Henry is also a brilliant pianist as well as a violinist.
Despite their talents and works (I’m only including the ones directly related to either music production or their stages), they’re still labeled as “untalented” by majority of non-fans out of ignorance. Consider if SM had properly promoted them for what they’re worth since the beginning and not as DBSK’s rejects, they’d be much more popular than they are now and not always so casually dismissed by everybody else.
And being bigger means more gigs, more gigs equals more money. more money, equals more profits. in business, you aim to maximise profits, this is not the case for SM in regards to Super Junior.
and the argument that says Super Junior aren’t promoted as much because they’ve already established themselves and have a loyal fanbase largely ignores how groups that are just as established. or even more, still receive better promotions than Super Junior has ever gotten. We understand that rookie groups will receive more attention but our problem is that people are acting like Super Junior actually received an ounce of care from SM in the first place. No one was ever shafted like Super Junior. EXO has also has almost as many pre-debut teasers than Super Junior has Korean MVs.
ELF aren’t asking for much, we just want the justice that Super Junior deserves; to be treated and respected like the artistes they are and to be promoted as their talents’ worth. Or at the very least, for the disparity between the promotions of Super Junior and other SM groups to at least be reduced and instead of steadily increasing.
