both in the literal sense and in a narrative sense too. like, one of the objects with the biggest importance for din is the razor crest. it gets destroyed as part of his weekend of tragedies arc. but we get no signal that the ship had any significance. two episodes later he gets a new shiny one and it's over. no reflecting on what he's lost. then there's the beskar spear, which was immediately foregone and was turned into armor. it was useful only for the moff gideon fight. then the darksaber itself kinda lost significance. instead of being something fought over for the symbolic leadership it grants, it's more of a cool visual resource for fights. now even with ig-11, we spent the entire season premiere going on how important he was for the exploration of mandalore, only for din to forget about it and just get an astromech.
and plot devices too! we get a bo katan thirsting after the darksaber so that she could finally reunite mandalore, insisting the planet can be saved. three episodes later, she doesn't want anything to do with the darksaber, she's given up on mandalore and any ambitions she ever had with not even a single scene showing us this change of mind. for the entirety of the show, it was hammered into our heads that taking off the helmet is the biggest sacrilege for the children of the watch, to the point you have to risk your life to redeem yourself, no matter what. but then bam. two conversations and it's totally fine to do it if you saw a mythic beast underwater once. Mando and the baby's time apart meant literally nothing other than he learned how to do somersaults. what!!!
no object permanence! at all! nothing matters if it doesn't work for whatever favreauni want to do for the next episode. we can just reset it.
