Truth never dies; but sometimes it has to go underground.
On July the third I sent an email regarding a fictional kidnapped cat via a form on a strange website; a website I only learned about from a mysterious box of business cards which appeared on my doorstep. Then suddenly everything went Twilight Zone. I got an odd call from my credit card company with an update on the fraud alert I'd called in. Which was odd seeing as it was my card and I'd done no such thing. Luke swore someone had tried to access his laptop remotely (I don't understand the programmer stuff), and that his webcam kept coming on by itself. Neil kept accusing both of us of moving his books (he's very OCD on this matter).
Then I came home from the shops to find men from the government in my lounge. At least they said they were from the government… something about my online presence being flagged as a terror risk. [Hello, gentlemen, if you're reading this.] They told me my credit card had been used to purchase… let's just say "illegal materials" and components for certain devices. As well as £1,000 worth of bulk cheese, which - oddly - may have been my salvation from prison. Hardly criminal mastermind behavior. I was able to convince them that my card was ghosted (which it clearly was). I'm physically fine and was never under arrest, but specific… suggestions were made to me, and the consequences for not following those suggestions were outlined in grim detail. Not the sort of people you want to have telling you they're going to "keep an eye" on you.
The same day we were summarily evicted from our flat with no real explanation. It's been a rough few months, trying to overcome the identity theft and find a permanent place to stay. I've woken up on far too many a sofa. I can't tell you how much I've missed the internet, but it was necessary to keep my head down, and I was afraid of putting others in danger via contact. It was all I could do to scrape up the money to keep paying for the website. I've become quite suspicious of utility vans. I still don't know if it's safe - I suspect it may never be safe - but I've had no immediate response to my test tweet, so perhaps I can avoid unwanted attentions for now.
There are many things I don't know. I don't know for certain that the men who threatened me were agents of the British government, or which side stole my credit card info. I don't know who was sending me coded texts; nor am I certain whether they led me to the Doctor Magic site intending to do me harm. But I AM now convinced that it is run by James Moriarty's organisation, and that there is still someone at the end of the line. I have someone looking into that even now. And I know that the only way we can force them into the daylight is if we all work together. If you're all with me, we'll be too visible to silence. Where there is reaction, there must have been worthwhile action. I'm scared but I think "the best offense is a good defense"...
We've found a thread and we have to pull on it until the whole thing unravels. It's the only way we'll ever prove Sherlock Holmes' innocence. Believe in Sherlock movement, I can't do this alone. Are you with me?
