All the polo shirts and a lot of Elio’s clothes come from the personal wardrobe of producer Marco Morabito. Timothée Chalamet and Marco, called Momo by the actors and the crew, have the same lanky figure, and in second stance Morabito is married to Giulia Piersanti, the costume designer of Call Me By Your Name. Another funny trivia for you all: Giulia Piersanti’s sister, Ilaria Urbinati, is Armie Hammer’s personal stylist. “I like the blue stripe shirt from the day where the excursion on the boat and we see the statue emerge from the water. Almost all of my clothes in the film are producer Marco Morabito’s. Almost everything I wear in the movie is his.” - Timothée Chalamet

The winter scenes of CMBYN were supposed to be filmed in a second moment, in December. but because of budget problems they had to film them in June, as the rest of the movie. Timothée said that he was looking forward to going back to Crema in winter and that he was disappointed when they told him otherwise. 

It is clearly Hanukkah, as mentioned by Oliver in the phone call, and we can also see Mafalda making latkes, Elio playing with gelt and stopping in front of the Perlman’s menorah. The dining room table is bedecked with pomegranates (a Jewish symbol as they contain 613 seeds, the same number as mitzvot, or good deeds, listed in the Torah), and what appears to be a citrus fruit known as an etrog, usually found on tables around Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. How did they film the Winter scene if it wasn't in the winter? Everything was fake? The outside was fake?

The winter scenes were filmed, as the rest of the movie, in May and June.

They used special effects to make it look like it was snowing. This video by the company who did the vfx shows how they did it. Enjoy!
