God it's so difficult living with family that’s disrespectful and unaccepting. I try my hardest not let it get to me but it's really hard.

vent stuff I just needed to rant

It’s the fact that I know what acceptance feels like. I have an amazing sister and amazing friends who see me as me. I know its possible yet my family actively chooses not to accept me. They see how depressed and angry it makes me yet choose not to love me.

Who am I even to complain? It’s not an abusive household. Don't get me wrong i'm grateful for the roof over my head but what good is it if I wish I didn't even have it?

I had the taste of being my own person for a few months but life got fucked up and I ended up back in the house I was trying so desperately to leave.

I'm still working very hard to accept myself. It's only recently I started to really see myself as a man and love myself but the progress I made feels diminished when I am never once referred to as a man. They see me as a woman and it fucking hurts. I’m not allowed to talk about anything lgbtq without being told to stop as their faces are filled with disgust. I've been here so long I've gone back to feeling surprised when my friends call me my name or use he/him

I understand she's my grandmother so I stopped saying anything. We argue enough as it is. She yells at me and do I yell back? No, because I use everything in me to be respectful to my elders. I'm called so many names that dig under my skin yet I hold my tongue because nothing I say matter. I take the hurt because at least I have a roof over my head right?

My favorite poem so far from a new poetry book I got called “Pillow Thoughts” by Courtney Peppernell. I opened the text to this page in a used bookstore and it saw right through me. For lack of better words, it read me like a book. Took it as a sign and brought it home with me.

I have never truly known devotion like this.

I have never wanted to take care of someone so badly.

I know he is fully capable, willing, and able to care for himself. However. I want nothing more than to be there.

I want to do his laundry, help him wash his hair, hold him when he needs me most (and even when he doesn't).

To take care of him would make me the happiest man alive.

Whether that means tending to his every need, or simply sitting next to him. I wish to be there.
