“Szpeed? Oh, uhm….I mean I do I juszt…am not allowed to usze it much.”

*He tapped his chitin claws together, the sound similar to the clacking of smooth stones.*

"You're... not allowed to use your speed? Come on, what's the point in having super speed if you're not gonna use it? You gotta be about the wind in your fur, right?" He was sure that any other Sonic's that might exist in other worlds had to be about speed. When Manic, Sonia, and him all went to that weird alternate reality as kids, yeah they were lazy but the Sonic was still a speedy devil! How could this Sonic not love being the fastest thing alive?

*The creature paused, bringing a chittin hand to his chin.*

“It could be very likely. And if it isz, that’d be… intereszting!”

*He looked around some more.* “Would make szensze. Nothing here looksz like my planetsz.”

It was eerie how calm he was about the situation. This creature was absolutely him from another dimension, and for whatever reason, it all felt completely normal to him. The absurdity of the situation made him chuckle, nodding his head as he thought for a second or two; "Well, if you're stuck here for a bit, you might as well enjoy yourself, right? The village may not be the most exciting, but the island itself is a blast to run through. If you might be an alternate Sonic, you gotta have super speed, right?" Curiosity had struck the cobalt hedgehog, looking over to the bugish looking creature. Their appearances were similar, but distinctly different enough that they wouldn't be mistaken for one another. What other similarities could they have? Or differences?

“Well that'sz. Intereszting! Certainly sztrange how they share the szame namesz as mine, but I guesz their juszt common names.”

*He shuffled back in the hammock, looking around the place. His antennae slowly flicked around, attempting to get a good sense of his surroundings.*

Nodding his head, the hedgehog stopped and thought about things for a second, letting the two of them rest in a comfortable silence for a few moments. His name was.. Szonic, and he had a Tailsz, a Knucklesz, and an Amy. There was no doubt in his mind now, this wasn't just a coincidence. "Could you... be from another world? It's a little weird, you looking like me, having my name, the people you know all have the same names as people I know... could you have been stranded here?" He naturally hoped that wasn't the case... it's a lot harder to bring someone home via interdimensional travel, but he definitely had his suspicions now.

“My..Friendsz?”

*He had to pause, gathering his thoughts together on it.*

“Well, there'sz Tailsz. He likesz to build thingsz, and he'sz real good at it too! He gets onto me alot for not working enough.. but it'sz all in good termsz. Then there’s Knuckles. He'sz…mean I guesz. He yellsz at me alot, szaying how much of an idiot I am, how I ‘Should remember all the deliveriesz I have to do on the top of my head’, yada yada. He just triesz to help me remember is all! Szilly me.”*He then looked to the side.* “Then there'sz Amy. She’s nicze n all, but doeszn’t really know boundariesz. Once I’m in her sztore she goesz over and tries to choke the life out of me with her grabbingsz. That'sz about all the big onesz I can think of right now..”

*He turned to the hedgehog, curious himself.*

“What about you? What are your friendsz like?”

Eyes widening, Sonic merely stared down this strange creature for a second. Tais... Knuckles... and Amy? This was way more than a coincidence, he was convinced. Was this creature from another world? Clearing his throat, he responded nervously; "Well, weirdly enough... uh. My best friend is Tails, he's like a little brother to me. He's this freakishly smart fox with a heart of gold, loves inventing things, tinkering with my plane and some of his own work and puts his friends above anything else. He takes criticism to heart but... we love him for it. Then there's Knux, he's a strongheaded man that can't work his way around a conversation to save his life but he'd drop everything to help someone in need. He's always there when we need extra muscle, and as far as friends go, he's one of the most thoughtful people I've met. Amy's a little on the pushy side, but she means well. She's really invested in what other people are thinking, and all she ever wants to do is help us be our best. She's strong on her own, and definitely doesn't need a bunch of morons like us around, but she sticks around anyways. She's someone I've known for years, and I couldn't imagine my group of friends without her in it. And uh-- Sticks. Sticks is-- feral. She's overly paranoid, thinks anything based in technology is some sort of government surveillance machine but-- she's the first person to know when something is seriously wrong, and without her we'd probably all be in the hospital at least a few times a month." He honestly thought the world of his friends, and in gushing about them and their various virtues, he had nearly forgotten that this small creature had named three of his friends as his own... with glaringly different traits.

*He looked around the place, before slowly heading to the hammock. He attempted to get onto it, and after numerous teetering and him nearly falling out he was inside, slightly shaking but glad to he off his feet.*

“I, really appreciate that. It'sz all szo confuszing, thisz place.” *He then looked to Sonic.* “Didn’t you szay you had szome, questionsz for me?”

"Yeah, nothin' that's gonna seem out of the ordinary considering how... alike we look. You say your name's Sonic too? Well, Szonic, a little different I guess. But, you got any friends back home? What're they like?" He was hoping to at least get to the bottom of some of this, but first and foremost he had to make sure this creature was comfortable. He was a little awkward, trying to pin what species he was, he couldn't figure it out, and was going to have to move past it. But he also needed to know where Szonic was from. Being away from the people you love, or being forced to leave them behind... that was a pain Sonic knew too well, and didn't wish that on anyone else.

*He followed suit, and began to answer the questions already fired at him.*

“Well, no I’m not. I kind of woke up here a few daysz ago.. Don’t remember how..”

*He brought a hand to the side of his head, the antennae coiling faintly around it.*

Stepping into the small hut, he suddenly remembered his place had no true walls, no door, and barely any furniture. It wasn't the most hospitable for guests, and especially not for stranded guests with no idea where they are. He motioned to the hammock, before leaning against the center post in the hut; "I don't really have any... couches or anything, but go ahead and use the hammock, put your feet up for a bit. It's gotta be stressful, being away from your friends and having no idea where you are. But you're safe here. My friends and I are can keep you safe until we can figure out where you're from, and how to get you home.

*Another pause. Soon the leaves rustled more, and the figure slid down. It looked up at the hedgehog, giving him a good look at it. It looked, freakishly similar in some ways, quills in a similar pattern, ect. Its outfit that it wore seemed to be faintly tattered. They’ve must’ve been here for a while.*

*Overall though, they were alot smaller than you thought. The tail thing was about half it’s size. They looked, very nervous, as well as faint…. tiredness?*

The creature looked so eerily similar to Sonic but, different. It was a lot more... feral? Fragile? He wasn't sure what word he would use. He looked a little bit furrier, a lot smaller, and almost alien in comparison to the hedgehog himself. "So is this why you were so nervous? Because we look the same because trust me, I get it, this is weirder than anything I've dealt with recently but... c'mon, looking like me is awesome! Let's go to the hut, I've got a few questions." Motioning to his hut, he smiled down at the smaller creature, before taking the lead and heading towards it, adding without turning back; "For starts, you from around here? Never seen your face before, even if it is pretty close to the one I see in the mirror everyday.

*The figure moved some more, and in doing so let something visible. A large tail like thing hung below the leaves, swaying lightly.*

Startling a little, he took a small step back. That was a-- large tail. Much larger than he was expecting for a creature sharing his voice. But-- of course that start wasn't just because of the size of that tail... This things name was Szonic, Sonic? Another Sonic? Was it another hedgehog? Was it younger than him? Maybe someone named after him? He didn't know, but he was sure about to find out. "Well, Szonic. Why don't you come out and say hello? We can go into my hut if you don't want other people seeing you. But it'd be a lot easier to talk face to face, don't you think?

*There was some more shuffling in the flora, the being shuffling around in possible anstness.*

“I’m…wait, you’re. Szonic? That'sz very, odd. Sztraingly odd.”

That's odd? He's never heard someone say that him being Sonic is-- odd. Was this someone from out of town that didn't know that the blue blur was a blue hedgehog? He'd never met anyone that outright didn't know who he was. "Yeah, I'm uh... I'm Sonic the Hedgehog. Why is that odd?" He couldn't pin it, but this whole conversation felt... strange. Something about it wasn't right, something about who he was talking to felt strange. Like it's talking to someone out of this world. Maybe that was just his egotism talking. After all... Who would have any reason to question him saying he was Sonic the Hedgehog?

@ask-the-chitterhog Sonic couldn’t name the last time he had a moment; a day, to just relax. But he took his time, lounging on the beach. A day with no obligations, no hangouts, no Eggman ambushes scheduled, just a day to soak up some sun, relax, and take in the heat of the day and the chill of the waves. But his relaxation was disturbed by a small shuffling in the corner of his eye. He wasn’t expecting anything on the beach today, so it naturally stirred him from his lounged, half asleep state. Standing from his sun chair and heading towards the trees by his hut, chuckling to himself. “Hey, I don’t know who’s there but you don’t need to hide. C'mon, I don’t bite. I get it, you probably want a photo, or an autograph. Who wouldn’t? But hiding in the trees is kind of creepy.”

*With soft rustling around, a pair of pale eyes were seen through the leaves. Quickly enough they disappeared.*

“Oh um. Hey?”

*It sounded eerily similar to yours, except faintly shrill.*

It took him by surprise, seeing nothing but a set of eyes peering through leaves for a quick moment. It was like whatever this was had the intent of keeping itself hidden. A little concerned, and mildly unamused, Sonic crossed his arms, opening his mouth and ready to retort... Until a voice eerily similar to his came out of a mouth that wasn't his own. His eyes widened, and his body stiffened. Was this some sort of joke? Was it someone using some sort of voice alteration? Was it one of Eggman's robots? "Oh-- hey. Mind comin' out? I can't exactly have a conversation with a set of leaves now. I know meeting Sonic the Hedgehog is a little overwhelming but, talking to leaves is bad for my image." As much as he was joking though, it'd be hard to anyone that he wasn't talking to himself; he was talking to the mysterious leaf person with nearly his exact same voice with no other visible Mobians around. Coaxing this being out was priority number one.

Having decided to get back into the RP community, I’m rebooting and reactivating both RougherThanTheRest and CobaltCockiness This does mean that on request, I’ll be writing starters again. I’ve naturally had a few years away from the RP community on Tumblr, but haven’t taken a break from writing. I’m willing to do anything. However, for more mature content (not exclusively adult content, gore, abusive subjects, torture, etc is included in this category), please verify your age with me. Anything not Tumblr-appropriate or anxiety-inducing topics can be routed through my Discord upon request. "Y-Yeah, ‘m okay man…"

He keeps staring at his alternate for a few seconds, like he really wants to say something and slowly inches closer just to briefly whisper.

"…Chaos, y’er hot."

"Maybe… I don’t know man, sorry. I-I’ve been acting really weird lately."

He could barely whisper those words, he felt so…shy around this alternate of his, he was good friends with him, but why was he suddenly feeling like he was extremely attractive all of a sudden? He almost felt like kissing him but refrained himself as much as possible.

"Riight, I just…sorry."

“Nah, don't worry about it. You act like it's a big deal to act like a dork around me. Not like I'm gonna judge you.”

      —Stepping closer to the alternate, he slung his arm over the blue blur's shoulder, smiling at the other for a moment or two. He felt more comfortable around this alternate than any others, like they had a bond deeper than what can be easily explained.

Late Night Secrecy (Closed RP)

Nothing went past the ex-thief's sight, nothing. Sonic's panicked attempt of hiding the evidence in his control were rather obvious to what he was doing. Besides, the heavy sent of tobacco was coming from /him/.

He couldn't blame Sonic for hiding this, it's basically an unspoken rule for heroes to not smoke. It was negatively perceived.

"I wake up to the smell of cigs and the trail leads to you? No point try'n' to hide it, bro."

       —His eyes widened. He hadn't even realized Manic's nose would have brought him this far out. He never knew the smell of cigarettes even made it back to the village. Sweat formed on his forehead, he had been caught. It took a moment before he sighed, pulling the lighter and the half-finished cigarette out of his quills and lighting it back up.

"Man, it's just, hard. Being a hero is stressful, both mentally and physically. These things help me relax... I swear, my legs would have locked up and gotten me killed by now if it weren't due to these things. They're mostly natural though, not like I'm doing any real harm... we don't really have a lot of deadly chemicals or anything here on the island, so this stuff is mostly things like grass and herbs. Want a drag?"

      —He held the small cigarette out to the other, his breathing finally returning to normal as he calmed down a bit.

Late Night Secrecy (Closed RP)

The mid-night awakenings were still rather common for Manic, still prominent from the days in the city. However, sitting out in the clear air on the porch of Sonic’s shack usually calmed him.

Lifting himself from the make-shift bed, the first thing he noticed was his brother missing from his hammock and, then the feint sent of smoke— tobacco. This was strange— the air was usually clear.

Shrugging, the green hedgehog ran is way, following the sent of tobacco— he had to admit, the smell made him want to have a cigarette himself, after the many years of being without them.

Reaching the source of the smoke, he saw somebody he wouldn’t of managed to guess.

"…Sonic, bro?"

       —This, of course, had become a nasty habit of his. But the nicotine helped relax him both physically and mentally, to the point the Hedgehog no longer felt he wanted them, but rather that he needed them. He'd often come home late in the night to shower to try to rid his quills of the awful stench of tobacco he knew the others would pick up on; especially having a fox in the group. He'd surely pick up the scent.

      —He hadn't heard anything. Not a blade of grass moving, not a gust of wind since a small wind fit probably ten minutes back. Not until he heard those two words, that stabbed him like a knife. His secret couldn't be out, could it?

      —Promptly, the half-smoked cigarette was brushed into a burn mark on the tree, and stuffed into his quills to attempt to hide any sort of evidence as the hedgehog panicked. It was almost instantaneous that he was up, facing the other with his hands behind his back to conceal the missing glove and tobacco stains;

"M-Manic! I thought you were asleep, what are you doing up here? Out for a midnight walk or somethin'?"

      —He slyly grinned, placing both hands on his hips sassily. Of course, the hedgehog wasn't entirely okay, but Sonic wasn't going to pass up praise, no matter where it came from.
