My concept is to create two books calls ‘storming data’, one represents the keywords in search engine and other one represents the result. At the beginning, I’m thought of getting started with the format of the books through trialing different and creative idea. While under the theme of post digital experience. this test is to figure out what the relationship is between two books and how it can be showcased through visual communication format. 

We are living in the post digital era, every-one is able to find any information they want. For example, through google research engine. In this era of big data, public information and privacy protection have been a pair of contradiction for their differences in nature. I listed many pairs of object with either direct or indirect relationships in the two books, the small book contains icons or small graphics, the large book contains images of the complete content that relate to those respectively. For example: engine searching keyword and result, program and code, design and inspiration… this can approach to the content straightforward.

The ‘two book’s format design clearly defines what I was going to develop further. I was making rough attempts at combinations of search terms, and in order to find the most effective results which Is the foundation for book content. My project is also collecting other work and image but it based on a permanent relation between two book.

-processing small book and binding 

The icons and graphic in small book is not in the right color conversation, it is not transparency at all after character is printed, but it succeeded as long as I use saint paper that only reflecting the light of image not the file setting itself. Small book have to be bind manually, because too small, and easy to fail by perfect binding. I tried six times before I had two perfect finished, I measured the binding size of the cover so that the image in cover was as much as possible cut to right in the center. These iterations make my work more valuable and it approach the design concept which is the small book and the big book must bound with the same binding - perfect binding.

I used the same method of symbolization to present storming data on the first and last pages of the content - the big bang, and when viewers appreciate the content, it becomes an experience of viewing the process of storming data. Also known as between the first and last pages is expresses a derivative process.

I designed a minimalist cover and biological implication to convey an ultimate concept of big data and brought it to the viewer. The five figures symbolize the process of a cell division. The first figure is an individual origin which I designed it as the cover of the small book, then the following figures are derivative that derived from the small book. I used the same method of symbolization to present storming data on the first and last pages of the content - the big bang, and when viewers appreciate the content, it becomes an experience of viewing the process of storming data. -THE BIG BOOK (THE RESULT)

I printed big book as A4 and cut out the squared from 24pages, but the squared can be cut through to whole book so I cut it manually before binding book. The squared I cut out can mount as a small book like the DNA I pick out from every entirety. But I use them as practice with the graphic of size and the color after they cut out, because I decide to print the small book separately and perfect binding them as same as the big book.

After all, I knew that communication is the key to open up anything as a group. So that we have google plus to exchange everyone’s idea, massager group chat for conversation, specify work distributively to each member and group meeting to work together. There’s some negative and challenges. We had some technical problem, extra space problem and it is hard to combine all design with no budget. But we took it as a good opportunity to challenge, so we planed to make simple and cheap vinyl paper and cut it in little space to highlight such tiny book in the big showcase. Anyway, no matters how the result will be, I was fully enjoy the process.
