hiatus notice

i really don’t want to do this, but it’s becoming harder for me to be on here, so yeah. 

a few days ago something terrible happened to me & my family, & being the overthinking person i am, i was unable to shake it off. it kinda devastated me. until today i try to be positive, but then i realize that my writing is suffering because of it. i feel terrible about everything, i lose my muse, i can’t write a single word, i become insecure about this whole blog. therefore, i decide to take a break before i’m depressed further. i don’t know how long i will be gone, or if i will be back at all, but right now i don’t want to think about it.

i’ve only has this blog for like more than a week, but i have met so many amazing people that inspire me so much. i’m honestly so sad to leave, but there’s nothing i can do other than this. i hope this phase is gonna be over soon. i’m sorry, i love you guys, but i have to say goodbye. for now, i hope.

                           ‘        so was i.  ’ NO INTENTIONS OF rectifying inauspicious presence. indolent draw of syllables & somewhat slumberous posture makes it irrevocably clear that the girl is only  h a l f  focused on her surroundings; but then, brown eyes land on him, and squint.   ‘  are you sure that’s the one you really want to look at?   ’   steady steps forward, indifferent facade slips, baring interest. she tilts her head, now more sober - attentive, scrutinizing colossal build / sleep is for the weak today. seconds float by, bearing time’s usual flick of exasperation.                                         eventually lithe figure plops down, legs crossed, sight aimed at a flock of other pigeons not far away.   ‘  it might not be. it might be those ones over there. it also might not.  ’

                             NAME SHENANIGAN.

[i mulled over this topic today, and it is quite fascinating to me now that i have time to think about it. below is a post that might not make sense, due to my incapability of writing coherently & an usual display of overanalyzing everything. read at your own risk.]

[first, my muse’s name is originally not hers, it used to belong to another character i created with absolutely opposite personality. maybe that’s why i gave the name to her instead of that stubborn, sassy brat. i thought of letting them share the name, but quickly jossed that i dea, because then i would not be able to think of them as separate figures, despite their differences. names matter to me that much, it is a brand, so i cannot shove them both in a box.] 

[second, the word ‘thanh’ in vietnamese is spoken with a level tone (called ‘thanh ngang’ in vietnamese). my mother tongue has six tones, & ‘level’ to me is the most balanced one. it’s neither heavy nor harsh, neither high nor low. when you say it you have to push air out, but very lightly. it sounds like an exhale almost tranquil & serene, giving out an airy (hah!) feel. it fits her, the girl with a perpetually unfazed & calm demeanor. moreover, it starts with the consonant ‘th’, which is an aspirated consonant. it dips a little when spoken, acting as the hand that prevents the balloon from floating away. thanh is like that, she might be whimsical and dreamy at times, but she is always astutely aware of her surroundings.]

[third, its meaning(s) can also be associated to her character. as a word, literally it means ‘sound’ or ‘a bar’ lmao. but as a name, it is of the sino-vietnamese, a range of words that derive from the chinese language but are written in vietnamese alphabet, which by the way is latin-based. in chinese there are tons of variants for the word, each conveys a totally different meaning, but in literature it is usually defined as: ‘pure’, ‘purified’, ‘clear water’, ‘the color green’, ‘sky blue’. three out of five of those meanings can be used to describe thanh. blue is her true aesthetic, clear water reflects her personality pretty well, and grass green is one of the color that reminds me of her mother, which shows their close connection. when i speak the name i can immediately construct her image in my head, from a general look to any possible tidbits.] 

[in short, thanh is a very suitable name for this daughter o’ mine. i honestly picked it on a whim, but looking back, i will say that my sixth sense had worked pretty well. i’m as satisfied as possible with my choice. (and i’m gonna end this now and post it before my brain pushes me to type more trash.)]
