♡ Call me Major or Crown ♡ ♡ She/Her ♡ Bi ♡ I like too many things and I really shouldn't it because it's a huge distraction but it's too late to stop now!
We really needs to talk about how the popularization of fanfiction thanks to Tik Tok has brought into fandoms a kind of "fanfic police" that constantly shames people for reading other things than character x character fanfics. Because why is it suddenly cool to read fanfiction but the moment it’s an x reader or an x oc it automatically becomes cringe?! Let people read x reader or x oc in peace!
Robin: Come on! It'll be fine! *tries to grab him*
Phantom: I don't want to!
Batman: *walks into the cave*
Phantom: *bolts towards Batman and hides behind him*
Robin: Wha- You can't hide behind Batman! That's not fair!
Phantom: *sticks his tongue out*
Batman: What is this about?
Robin, groaning: I want Phantom to Possess-
Phantom: Overshadow.
Robin: I want Phantom to Overshadow me so I can practice breaking out of it. Its training!
Batman, glancing back at Phantom: Hmn?
Phantom: I don't-I don't like Overshadowing people. It feels-it feel icky.
Robin: Icky? Seriously? What are you, five?
Phantom: Five times more respectful than you.
Robin: You-
Batman: Enough. Robin, Phantom already said 'no', hes not comfortable with it. Consent goes both ways, and if I find out you've been bothering him about it I'll bench you and sign you up for Consent and Conmunication Training.
Robin: Ugh okay. Sorry Phantom, I'll drop it. *stalks off with a fake pout*
Phantom, visibly relieved: Thanks. I really, really hate Overshadowing.
Batman: Hmn. *reaches up to ruffle Phantom's hair, pulling a core-rumble(purr) from the boy*
Dick: What are we going to do? Half the world is on fire, and the Justice League is gone.
Jason: Plus our resources are dwindling fast. With all the refugees we've been taking in, we'll all go hungry in a month.
Tim: We're out of guns, out of men, and out of options. If only we could go back in time and change everything.
Duke: That's a great idea Tim. I'll arrange it.
Cass: I'm sorry. You'll arrange it?
Duke: Yeah, I got a guy who can help.
Damian: This isn't something as simple as you calling your cake guy! Father is dead! The world is ending!
Duke: Okay, first of all, my time travel guy is also my cake guy, so it is that simple. Second, when Danny takes us back in time, we will save Bruce, save the world, and we'll have an amazing three-layer cake to celebrate.
Dick: Wait, the cake guy was real?
Duke: Yeah why wouldn't he be?
Tim: It's just that you would call him up at the oddest of times. Like that time when you called him at 3 am because you wanted coffee while on patrol and needed something to pair it with.
Duke: I get cravings when someone messes up my sleep schedule. Sue me!
Jason: Duke's bad eating habits aside, this time travel mission might be just what we need. The only reason we lost was that Earth was taken by surprise. If we go back and prevent the tragedy or even buy the past heroes time, we can save our world.
Duke: I'll dial Danny now
Cass watching him step away to make a call: Is this the same Danny, from Fenton Pastries?
Damian: Does it matter?
Cass: It does. He was trying very hard to get Duke's attention. I'm pretty sure he was attempting to seduce him with cake.
Dick: Was he successful?
Cass: No. Duke's only real love is bread.
Tim: Then we keep that to ourselves so the pastry chef/ time master helps us out as quickly and as effectively as possible.
Duke: Good news! Danny is on his way with Clockwork amulets and cake slices for us all! Isn't he the best? A true friend! Heck, he's practically family, like a brother!
Danny: Oh dear! He thinks I look young enough to be Dan(te)'s brother!
Dante: How many times are you gonna make him cry?
Dick: Wait What?! I didn't know you were Dante's dad!
Danny: Guilty as charged!
No but this did give me the idea of Dante, as a way to make up for the past timeline after he's redeemed/reborn or whatever, becomes a superhero and eventually becomes a JL member and somehow becomes best friends with Dick/Nightwing. Dante and Dick are like 25-27 at this point, and Danny(not a superhero but he pops in to give Dante his lunch when he forgets it), who is actually like 45 or something, looks like hes barely 20, not even, and everyone is like "WTF How!"
The real reason Clockwork doens't like the Speedsters in DP/DC stories has nothing to do with the Timestream. Sure its annoying to deal with, but you'd be surprised how many people across the dimensions fuck with time, so Clockwork would never single the Speeders out for that. The reason Clockwork hates them is because Danny used to date one of them(pick whichever you want), but they broke up with Danny and it was really dramatic and messy and totally screwed up Danny's sense of self worth for a while, and Clockwork doesn't play when it comes to his son. That's his baby, Speedster and Clockwork will never forget or forgive what you did to his baby.
Realism Artist Damian who takes his art seriously, and Abstract Artist Danny who does random bullsh*t to see what works. They're on the same level fame wise(in terms of art career fame. Damian's always gonna be more famous due to family name), so they run into eachother all the time at shows, and stuff.
Danny thinks they're besties, and Damian "hates" Danny with a passion.
Black Canary: Yeah, I mean hes an adult, but he's closer in age to them, I figured he would be better at understanding them.
Flash: I mean he is childish, but maybe they'll finally listen to someone.
*opens the training room door*
Phantom, snarling: Is that seriously all you've got? Pathetic! Get back up and try again! Saving the day waits for no "hero"!
*Young Justice scattered across the room, all panting heavily, or cradling bruises as they're each paired up with a Phantom duplicate*
Superman, gobsmacked: Phantom what are you doing?!
Flash: Yeah man this looks a little harsh don't you think?
Phantom: They want to be treated like adults, Flash, so I'm treating them like adults. If they want to be treated like adults, then they can train like adults, work like adult, eat like adults, balance their hero work and their civilian work like adults. I said no slacking! Get back up!
Superman, wincing: Still...
Flash: Dude, what did they say to you to piss you off this much? *tries to joke* I need to know so I don't do the same. Seriously, you're scary.
Phantom: *scowls*
Kid Flash, panting: Pl-Please! Can we take a brake? I need some water.
Phantom: 10 minutes. *all his duplicates vanish and Phantom turns and floats out*
*water bottles appear out of nowhere, and all the sidekicks collapse, desperately chugging the water bottles*
Flash: No, seriously, what did you say to him? I've never seen him that upset before.
Artemis, clutching her ribs: K-Kid Flash s-said he didn't get why-why we couldn't be treated as adults and-and do our own work. R-Rob in Said-Said that Phantom was-ss lucky, cause he didn't have a mentor and took-took care of his territory on his own without help. Said-Said it couldn't be that hard since Phantom did it.
Adult Heros -Batman: *winces*
Superman: No wonder Phantom was so upset.
Green Arrow: Yeah, I'd be pissed too if my years of hard work was chalked up to "not that hard".
Flash: *turns and follows after Phantom*
Batman: Hmn.
Robin: *flinches*
Batman: It looks like Phantom still went easy on you. You should thank him for that.
Kid Flash: That was easy?!
Batman: You're still alive aren't you?
Superman: And by the looks of it, he was only brawling, I don't smell the scent of his Ecto-Blasts.
Black Canary: And he gave you water.
Flash: *makes his way to the observation deck*
Phantom: *staring up at the stars with a pained expression*
Flash: *stands next to him as a comfortable silence stretches between tham*
Phantom: The screwed up thing is, I could have had a mentor.
Flash: Yeah?
Phantom: Yeah. But, instead of guiding me, and helping me, and being a support system, he decided he'd rather be a fruitloop. So, he became one of my villains.
Flash: Wow, that sucks. Wait-
Phantom, snorts: Yeah, it does. We're the only two halfas in the world right now, and he decides to be a massive jerk. It sucks, it sucks alot, because back then, I'd have loved to have what these kids have, heck, I'd have loved to just have someone to give me advice without having some greater scheme or alternative motive.
Flash: But?
Phantom, taking a deep breath: But thats not how it worked out for me. It was me, my teenage friends, and my teenaged sister against an alternate dimension, and a corrupt falsified government agency. That's the bitter truth of it, and I won't change that if I maybe could, instead, I just have to make sure those dinguses don't get themselves killed before they're adults.
Flash, gently pats Phantom's shoulder: Awe, don't want them to join you in the realms.
huge fan of the headcanon that Duke can just... turn invisible and no one except for the BatFam/certain Associates know/can avoid him
Like Bruce is leading Clark and Diana through the Manor and chatting and randomly walks around the middle of the hallway for no reason and Diana follows him while Clark just walks headfirst into Duke and neither Duke nor Bruce realized what they'd done
Tim is casually talking with a couple of friends he has over and randomly picks up a sandwich from the plate in the middle of the table and holds it over his shoulder where it just disappears
Steph is helping Alfred set the table and just shoves a glass bowl into the abyss and lets go and Alfred is two seconds away from screaming when he realizes 'oh, Duke is holding it' and Steph didn't even realize he wasn't visible.
Hal is gesturing while telling a story on the Watchtower and turns to look at nothing and goes "You were there, tell them" and the emptiness starts talking and Barry nearly has a heart attack until Duke flickers into existence.
I need a fic where, while Dick is undercover in Spyral, the Batkids all go to war against Lex Luthor, because as far as they know he killed their big brother
Robin: Don't go around singing. I really don't want your siren song messing with the team, you understand right?
Phantom: Oh, sure, of course.
Robin: Thanks for understanding! *tries to pat Phantom's shoulder but his hand goes straight through* Oh, woops didn't realise you weren't solid. Anyway, let's get back to the rest of the team.
Phantom: Sure.
*two weeks later*
Aqualad: *storms into Titan's Tower and drags Robin into a private meeting* What the heck is wrong with you?
Robin: What do you mean? Also, ow.
Aqualad: You told Phantom not to sing!
Robin: Oh, yeah of course I did. I didn't want him to accidentally ensnare the rest of the team. A harem situation is the last thing this tower need, intentionally or not.
Aqualad: Siren's don't always work like that, Robin, especially adolescents! Da-Phantom's songs are almost entirely hypnotic, and cause confusion! He's still a guppy! An older guppy, sure, but that just means he also has complete control over his song! He could sing and it could effect nothing for Poseidon's sake!
Robin: O-Oh.
Aqualad: What you said was so incredibly offensive, do you realize that? Chalking up a Siren song as something purely preditory? Its instinct, it ingrained in him as much as breathing is for you and me. Even if it weren't, would you tell Raven or Starfire not to use their abilities because Demons and Aliens try to take over the world occasionally?
Robin: No, of course not.
Aqualad: Well this is basically the same thing. You need to give Phantom an apology, and maybe ask Aquaman for a lesson in Sirens if Phantom won't give you one.
Robin: You're right, I made assumptions and I am sorry. I'll pull Phantom aside later.
Aquaman: Thank you for being understanding. I hope I don't have to come in here like this again.
*in the hallway*
Phantom: Aqualad! You're here!
Aqualad: Hey guppy. *pats Phantom affectionally on the back*
Phantom: *core purrs before tapering off when he sees Robin, and Phantom seems to deflate a bit.* Oh, hello Robin.
Robin: Ah Phantom, about you singing-
Phantom: I haven't been, like you said, promise.
Robin: I-I know and I need to tell you that I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ask you not to express yourself, or your instincts. Its not an excuse, but I had no clue how important singing would be for you.
Phantom: Really? You won't be angry then?
Robin, wincing: No. I'm so sorry, I'll be talking to Aquaman about understanding Siren's more, something I should have done from the beginning. I hope you can forgive me sometime in the future.
Phantom: It-It might take a bit of time. *winces as if he feels guilty but Aqualad pats his shoulder in encouragement* Normally, people have issues with me being a ghost, so when you didn't blink an eye at it, I got excited thinking I was fully accepted, but then you shut down a part of me that makes me a Siren too and I just, it made me sad and kind of angry.
Robin: I'm sorry.
Phantom: Thank you for apologizing, most people don't. I hope we can be friends when I forgive you in the future?
Robin: Of course, I look forward to being your friend Phantom.
