No cloth spread for my cards yet, so I used my pillow for a temporary fix. This is the Voice of the Trees deck created by Mickie Mueller, and is my first ever tarot deck. I absolutely love the artwork and the companion that comes along with it is more than a perfect guide for a beginner such as I! I’m still learning much about myself and this new road I walk, and since this deck is going to help me down rough paths I figured I would do a deck interview. Mainly so I can get to know it!
1) What is your nature? Muin • Vine: Completion & Harvest - I take it this means that it is bountiful and complete in itself. That it will give all it can to answer any questions I have without selfishness, and do its best. It’s a lovely thought to have a deck with this overall personality! Already getting good vibes!
2) What are your strengths? Huath • Hawthorn: Obstacle & Tension - Interesting indeed. And again, another ease to my worries. The fact it is strong in this aspect means that if I find hardship it will point me in a better direction!
3) What do you like doing best? Coll • Hazel: Inspiration & Wisdom - Perhaps this deck is exactly what I needed! A guide for me, I believe the earth is truly willing to bless me with all it wishes to teach and show!
4) What are your weaknesses? Straif • Blackthorn: Adversity & Sacrifice - Hm… maybe that means it doesn’t like others; that once it has an owner or partner, it latches tightly? Adversity and sacrifice could mean having to be uprooted, and trees have very deep, strong roots. I don’t see it ever needing to sacrifice anything, though I could be mistaken. Yet, it enjoys obstacles yet not misfortune, which I believe would mean anything truly negative, as obstacles and hardships don’t have to be negative.
5) What do you not like doing? Nuin • Ash: Transformation & Action - This actually ties in to the previous question, in that transformation could also mean a form of sacrifice or adversity. And maybe it doesn’t do well with immediate action, or sudden change? Maybe meditation before each reading will help this, so that my actions are not immediate and I do not ask for guidance right away, but think and clear my mind beforehand.
6) How do you feel about me? Ur • Heather: Transition & Partnership - I’m currently flooding with emotions! This alone needs no words, but the fact we will have a bond? This means so much to me! I will have to really start my own growth, but through my own blossoming it’s a comfort to know that together we will grow stronger.
7) What do you think I need to learn? Koad • Grove: Oneness & Consciousness - I don’t think my decision in going into druidry have ever been more clear until now. To become one with the spirits and earth around me, and to grow in knowing… Already this deck is teaching me, and now I do feel my calling is more true than ever…
8) How can I work to achieve that? Ngetal • Broom / Reed: Cleansing & Vitality - I knew I needed a spiritual cleansing. For a very long time I knew things needed to change for the better and that the change was in the air. Now, for the first time, my doubt is gone. I no longer question… I was meant to be in the forests.
9) Where do you see us going? Fearn • Alder: Oracle & Teacher - A guide for others, a sage to those who need it… a long journey is ahead that will take years of getting to. Yet, I believe me and this deck were truly meant to be.
So wonderful, this experience. I was so frightened at first, worried that none of it would make sense and that maybe I was just kidding myself with all of this. But the trees have eased my uncertainty and I see great things ahead. Hardships, trial and error, and many other things will stand in my way. But if the earth was ever giving me a sign that all is well, that I am, perhaps meant to do it, this was it.
