When people on podcasts talk about how they discovered a band that changed their life or blew their mind, it’s always like “ I was at Kafka’s Burrito records and the guy behind the counter was like “You’ve never heard T Rex? Just take this discography home with you and if you like it, just keep it and if you like it, all I ask is that you get a tattoo of Marc Bolan on your face a dedicate your life to playing glam/folk”

But when people that grew up in the Rural Midwest the story is basically “I could get 2 more records for a penny from Columbia house so I went with REO Speedwagon and “Oh No! It’s Devo” because the cover looked cool”
