A response to “Why Bitcoin’s male domination will be its downfall”
This is a response to the article http://fusion.net/story/124655/why-bitcoins-male-domination-will-be-its-downfall/ which aside from preaching about how the “human” element is missing (when almost everyone with even just cursory knowledge is aware of the size and scope of charity in #Bitcoin) asserts that “it seems that the only Bitcoin community that particularly welcomes female participation is the NSFW subreddit r/GirlsGoneBitcoin”.
I tend to not distinguish between men and women on the professional level, I view us all as individuals with reasonably equal potential, capabilities, responsibilities, etc., and you can ask any of the women I work or am friends with whether I'm being truthful. But since this guy started it, let me give you a purely subjective rant based on my own anecdotal experience:
Accounting for the perfectly normal and expectable deficit of females and the all too well known and childishly STUPID (and fixable) sexism towards females in tech in general, I have seen an amazing number of impressive women in this space:
Ambitious, intelligent, talented, curious women with great ideas, successful projects, CEOs or other C level positions, event organizers who consistently go out of their way to bring us together, lead panels, host podcasts, magazines, online shows, bootstrap businesses, create new payment protocol forks, publicly travel the entire freaking country educating others about Bitcoin with their kids and significant others in tow, speak at conferences with such impressive eloquence and confidence that I could only wish I had a tiny fraction of that, lead charities with global reach and unique funding approaches, commanding nothing but respect and admiration from their audiences, and I could go on and on and on ...
The women in #Bitcoin ROCK, and the degree to which absolutely uninformed and clueless white knights like this author attempt to victimize them and declare Bitcoin broken for a lack of estrogen, is the degree to which they hate to see both independent women and Bitcoin succeed, in my humble opinion.
