Chapter 1
-break room-
hari: Oh, Saki-san. Look at Kasumi.
saki: What about him?
hari: He said that he won't raise his bangs at Starless, even though he wears his hair up whilst we're at the off-site venue.
zakuro: Everyone has their own personal reasons for doing things, but I would still like to see the guest’s reaction to your face.
hari: You should try putting your hair up whilst wearing your butler outfit. I’m sure it would suit you, Kasumi.
zakuro: I was shocked to hear about the butler service, even more so that it would still continue while we're performing off-site.
kasumi: It's something that only takes place for a month and the guests have been looking forward to it. I’ll be the best nondescript butler you’ve ever seen.
hari: I’ve heard that some of our audience members have misunderstood your part in our off-site performance as being a special guest. If you're going to show your face elsewhere isn't it fine to show it at Starless too?
kasumi: You may think so, Hari but I’ve gotten used to wearing this style here at Starless. Right, Saki-san? You like both versions of me don't you?
zakuro: My my, do you not think that the guests would like to see your face? Look, if I just lift your bangs like this–
-zakuro pushes kasumi’s bangs back-
kasumi: Uwah, w-what did you do that for~?
zakuro: We wouldn't be able to call you a background character anymore, but don't you think this look suits Starless’ service?
hari: What do you mean by that?
kasumi: No, if the world gets too bright then background characters like me will go extinct.
hari: I see, so having your bangs up or down is like flipping a switch on your different modes?
zakuro: Right now his background character switch is off. Does this face of his make your heart flutter?
saki: Whether his hair is up or down he's still the same Kasumi-san.
zakuro: Hm hm hm, stand close to the wall here for me then.
saki: Ok?
zakuro: Now I’ll have Kasumi stand face to face with you and then when I give him a little push, bam.
-zakuro makes kasumi kabedon saki-
kasumi: Uwah!
saki: Uwah!
zakuro: What do you think? Is your heart racing now?
saki: Yes but that's got nothing to do with his hair! It's cause of the proximity!
-kasumi quickly pulls away and pushes his bangs down-
kasumi: Zakuro~ You shouldn't do that. Cornering someone against the wall like that can be considered as sexual harassment! I could even be charged for assault or criminal intimidation!
hari: Correct, penal code article 208 or article 222(1). You know your stuff, Kasumi.
kasumi: It's just common sense. Zakuro should consider brushing up on the basics of it. Sorry about that, Saki-san. I shouldn't be doing stuff like that to you.
saki: It wasn't your fault, Kasumi-san.
zakuro: My apologies, Saki-sama. I will brush up on my common sense if the opportunity arises.

Chapter 2
-green room-
saki: You wear your hair up when you come to this venue, huh?
kasumi: Yep, that's the rule I’m sticking to.
aogiri: Rule? What do you mean by that?
kasumi: I’ll give you a hint. The God of Revenge.
saki: What? That sounds dangerous.
qu: That's your role in ‘MAD LOVE’ isn't it?
kasumi: Yes, it's a role that doesn't exist in the original source. I had Kei add it for me. “Revenge is a grotesque venture that reveals all”.
aogiri: Why did you ask him to add the ‘God of Revenge’ to the story? Jean Racine’s ‘Andromaque’ takes place after the Trojan War. The way the Greek mythology of the original has been adapted to take place in the Japanese Sengoku period instead is quite complicated as well. In Greek mythology the God of Revenge is a Goddess and there isn't any fitting equivalent in Japanese folklore either.
qu: It was probably rearranged to be Japanese themed because we're performing it alongside ‘Akatsuki no Negai’. That show is also a Japanese style fantasy story, so they match.
kasumi: I don't know the reason that ‘Andromaque’ was adapted into a Japanese setting, but… I thought it would be more interesting if it were easily understood as being a revenge story.
qu: You say that, but the only reason it becomes a revenge story is because your character instigates it.
aogiri: And because of that, the Shogun that Qu plays loses his mind and dies.
saki: It sounds like a complex story…
kasumi: Just think of the God of Revenge as that extra bit of spice added to ‘MAD LOVE’.
qu: That's one strong spice. Come to think of it, the order of the shows was originally planned to be ‘Akatsuki no Negai’ first and then ‘MAD LOVE’ second.
aogiri: True, but both shows have been adapted so much that it shouldn't matter which is viewed first.
-kongou appears-
kongou: Aogiri, could you help me for a moment? Some water bottles were delivered and they need to be brought in.
aogiri: Got it.
-kongou and aogiri leave-
qu: I’ll be going too, I need to confirm some things with Mokuren before the show.
-qu leaves-
kasumi: I’m falling behind as a background character. Maybe I should leave my bangs down after all?
saki: Does it matter if they're up or down?
kasumi: I can't even keep my way of speaking consistent, it's unsettling right? Actually speaking of what we were discussing before, it's true that it was originally set up to be ‘Akatsuki no Negai’ and then ‘MAD LOVE’. But then Kei decided to swap the order.
saki: Is that so? I wonder what his reasoning was.
kasumi: ‘MAD LOVE’ is a story where everyone dies due to one person's one sided wish. “If your hopes are futile, then kill them”, they're all strung along by those words from the God of Revenge.
saki: Once they realise what they've done they can't take it back anymore… It's a tragic story.
kasumi: But on the other hand, ‘Akatsuki no Negai’ is filled with struggles and the protagonist gives up hope at one point. But he still manages to get it back in the end. I feel like there is a reason for putting these two shows in this order…
Ahaha, sorry I started rambling about nonsense. I should talk about something more uplifting. I’d like for the audience to be glad that we put the shows in this order.

Chapter 3
-theatre hall stage-
kasumi: “No matter how much you pride yourself on your loyalty, you'll never get through to your lord. Just look at how easily that man destroyed a country for the sake of a woman who isn't even interested in him.”
“The man that you once served is long gone, wouldn't you consider that a betrayal of your trust? You should do what you can before you get destroyed yourself. If your hopes are futile, then kill them.”
-stage wings-
saki: (The God of Revenge says the same words to everyone and they all decide to ‘kill their enemy’... Ah, he's coming off the stage!)
kasumi: (shocked) …….
saki: Kasumi-san, here's a water bottle. And a towel.
kasumi: T-thanks, I wasn't expecting you to be in the stage wings today.
saki: I’m handing out towels and water to help you guys out.
kasumi: Being looked after by you puts me in a strange mood.
saki: Let me know if you need anything else, I have different drinks too.
kasumi: No, I'm good. I’d just like to hear your thoughts on the show.
saki: (I wasn't expecting that.)
saki: The scene you performed just now is quiet but impactful. Especially when you say “If your hopes are futile, then kill them”.
kasumi: It's my role to incite the desire for 'revenge’ in the others. I tell them to get revenge on those who have betrayed them.
saki: If they really could kill off the very concept of that hope they can't attain then maybe this tragedy wouldn't have occurred at all.
kasumi: ……..
saki: Ah, sorry I’m chatting so much while you're in the middle of your show.
kasumi: It's fine, thanks for your thoughts. I’m gonna be on again soon, so I’ll be going.
saki: I’ll take your water and towel back.
kasumi: Saki-san, what you said just now is correct.
saki: Huh?
kasumi: What my God of Revenge told me to kill is the hope that's futile to believe in.

Chapter 4
-theater hall stage-
kasumi: “You should do what you can before you get destroyed yourself. If your hopes are futile, then kill them.”
-stage wings-
kasumi: You're staffed in the stage wings again today, huh?
saki: Yes! Do you want some water?
kasumi: Yes please.
saki: Here you go. I’ll check if your costume looks right.
kasumi: ‘Akatsuki no Negai’ has a lot of solo parts, so if I don't perform mine properly I’ll stick out like a sore thumb. Last time we met in the wings like this we talked about the God of Revenge, remember?
saki: Ah, yes. I said something strange even though you were still in the middle of your show…
kasumi: No, you were correct. If the very concept of that hope that can't be attained could be destroyed, then this tragedy wouldn't have happened…
However, humans can't help but cling to hope, no matter how unattainable it is. For example, my wish is so strong that even if it ended up hurting the world, I still wouldn't be able to give up on it.
saki: A strong desire… Love, loyalty and faith can all fall under that description.
kasumi: ‘Akatsuki no Negai’ is the same way, I think. Even though you think that it can't be attained, the fact that you don't give up could be seen as hope in itself. My wish was never able to get through…
saki: But, you said this before, Kasumi-san. That ‘Akatsuki no Negai’ is a story where the protagonist loses hope at one point, but still manages to seize it in the end.
kasumi: A wish to be able to seize that hope that you couldn't let go of, huh… If only it were that simple.
saki: ‘Akatsuki no Negai’ is a hopeful story. I’m sure your wish will come true.
kasumi: Hearing you say so makes me believe it will. The second act is starting, I’ll be going. Watch me from here, ok?
-time pass, theatre hall-
saki: (A lot happened, but all of the shows ended up being performed without disruption. …Huh? Someone’s still on the stage. I thought everyone had gone and gotten changed already.)
-stage wings-
saki: Um, is someone still here…?
kasumi: You surprised me. I was just thinking about you. Ah, not in a bad way, I meant that in a good way. I think that performing the shows in this order was the correct choice after all.
saki: ‘MAD LOVE’ and then ‘Akatsuki no Negai’. The show ends on a hopeful note this way
kasumi: I had thought that the order didn't matter either way, but… Hearing you say that you believe my wish will come true made me start to believe the same thing. Some people pray in order for their wishes to come true…
saki: I’m sure it will.
kasumi: Could you say that one more time?
saki: I’m sure your wish will come true, Kasumi-san.
-bloomed cg, kasumi with tears in his eyes
kasumi: This is the first time I’ve wanted someone to say that to me. All this time, that's all that I’ve wanted to hear. Thank you, your words have saved me.

Kasumi: … For Sei, Mei is family. His little sister.
He was the Chief Mourner in the funeral, and was more grief-stricken than anybody else.
I'm sure that Sei asked this to himself over and over again.
Was she really seeking her death, Was there really no other option.
Why couldn't I protect her…
Saki: … ..
Kasumi: But no matter how much regret Sei has, Mei will never come back.
That inevitable ending is something that I realized.
Saki: That is, Sei's sorrow and regret…
Kasumi: But… I don't want to have those feelings anymore, I won't allow it.
I want to cherish being with someone important to me until the very end. If it were up to me, that's what I would do.
Because someone precious to me is right within my reach.
Saki: (Kasumi-san…)
Kasumi: … … —are the thoughts that I've grasped from this.
Oh my~ I'm really grateful that you've put up with such a long talk!
Saki: … … Kasumi-san's Sei is something to look forward to for today's stage.
Kasumi: If you say it like that, then I have no choice to do my best, please do watch out for it~
(Stage)
Kasumi: “…”
Saki: (Next is, the scene that Kasumi-san talked about…)
(Card CG)
Kasumi: “If only I could turn back the hands of the clock and start all over. Then, I could—”
“… …”
“ … the truth is, I wanted you to keep on living. I wanted you to always stay by my side.”
“That's why, this pain inside my heart is proof of you. A proof that you were here…”
(Church bell ringing sfx)
“—Ahh, the church bells have rung. It's time.”
Masterlist
Note: Lost in translation but Kasumi refers to Mei as "kanojo" in the italicized she/her above. This is a common way to refer to a female subject, but is uncharacteristic of Kasumi in general who, when speaking of heroine roles, says the name or "the heroine". The 2nd sentence being "Why couldn't [I] protect [that girl]" when he refers to [Sei] in the first sentence shows how he slipped into mixing it with possibly personal experience.
This vagueness of whether Kasumi is talking about his role or he's overlapping his personal experiences is also shown in the first part, where he doesn't use any pronouns/other indicators that he is talking about his character, Sei's thoughts or whether it's already his personal thoughts. I think overall, it's a sneaky way of hinting his lore, which heavily involves his little sister and parallels his role in this Easter show
