The Storm {tyreese&carol}
She held a branch down to get a good view of the area. It looked pretty abandoned to her and she stepped out of the forest. She waved for him to follow her.
"I don’t think there’s anyone here. Not for awhile by the looks of it." She said, trying to talk over the loud wind. It began to pour when she took a few more steps toward the road. Her eyes squinted when she looked back at him.
"We should get inside!" She called back.
Tyreese gave a second glance to the area, took a step out of the forest, and gave another look around. Thunder rolled through the sky with low claps in the distance. He felt sick at the sound.
"Hurry, we gotta hurry!" he spoke just loud enough to be heard over the sound of the storm. The man jogged ahead of her as sharp rain began to pelt them, Judith cried at the wetness and the jostling of his steps.
The house in front of them waited, still and dark.
The Storm {tyreese&carol}
The pair, plus Judith, were still on their way toward Roberta, Georgia when the skies darkened. It had been rainy and windy since yesterday but she hoped it’d pass without a real storm but it didn’t seem like that’d be the case.
As she watched the dark clouds gather, they reached the edge of the woods. Just outside of the trees there was an intersection with a building in three of the corners except the one that they were on. The building just across the street, closest to them, was a house, enshrouded with overgrown bushes and grass. It might’ve been a good place to hide out unless it had walkers inside of it.
In the farthest corner was a building covered in wood paneling, it had trucks and some trailers in the front of it, it was difficult to tell what kind of business it had been, the sign was torn down by a car crashing into it. The third building was covered in a metal roof and propane tanks covered the yard in rows, the difference with this one was that it had a chain link fence with barbed wire around it. Sure, the gates of the fence were busted open but it wasn’t anything that couldn’t be fixed if they could find something to tie it closed.
She squinted to read the street signs to get some idea of how close they were to Roberta. The signs read Seagler Road and S Dugger Avenue. If she was remembering it right, they were really close! Only a mile or two. As much as she wanted to keep going, the looming threat of a thunderstorm held her back.
She touched Tyreese’s arm to get his attention as he scanned the area for walkers, “We should get inside somewhere. It looks like it’ll rain any minute and I don’t see any walkers around here.”
Tyreese held Judith to his chest to protect her from the oncoming winds. The air was thick and muggy, and the moisture clung to his skin. He turned his face toward her when she brushed his arm.
"Real quiet." he spoke over the howls of the wind, "Think there are, you know...survivors around here?"
Tyreese had two habits: of making double takes at walkers and of asking about survivors, a third habit would be worrying but that's a habit he shared with almost everyone around him. He figures that certainly, a person could hide among walkers as he'd seen it before and he's certain that there are other survivors. Every swing of his hammer is a sure swing.
He scanned the area a second and third time to be sure.
