Laughing, Jon sat up, shaking his head as he watched April walk away. There was no doubt in his mind that she was one of a kind. Spunky as hell. He had to admit that when the punching bag came into contact with his body, it knocked the wind out of him for a few moments, but only because he wasn’t expecting it. Jon wasn’t sure of what to make of how April responded to him; though he wasn’t going to make a big deal out of it, either. In all honesty, the twenty-one-year-old was just glad to have everything start to fall into place for himself. He was glad he was starting to make friends again. That he was starting to connect with Lexi and his child again. Even if he couldn’t make sense of whatever the hell this was. “uh, yeah...don’t worry about it,” Jon said with a wave of his hand, watching April leave.

Jon chuckled softly. He liked that April was sarcastic as he was, he liked the fact that April wasn’t afraid to challenge him. He noticed their connection was something he wasn’t used to, but there was no reason he couldn’t give it a try. “That ain’t always the case,” Jon pointed out, trying to make sense of their current situation. “Sometimes you just go out to dinner with someone so you can get to know that person.” The Ohio native paused for a moment, trying to collect his thoughts. “I guess what I’m tryin’ to say to you, April, is...I like hangin’ out with you. You’re sarcastic like me, you get my humor, and you’ve given me the time of day to get to know me and shit. Ain’t everyone gonna do that,” he shrugged. “So, call it a date if you wanna, or say I gotta crush on you, but I’m takin’ you to dinner after we finish up here. You cool with that?”

“I’m glad you’re doing well, Lex. You can always handle anything that gets throw your way. We both know that. You’re incredibly strong independent as hell, and driven. I don’t see that changin’ anytime soon.” Jon smiled at the mentioning of their daughter and how Lexi found her to be perfect too. “Sure,” Jon replied with a half smile before nervously standing to his feet and following Lexi’s lead.

“Yeah, I got you,” he said with a nod before heading over to spot April. “So is this gonna a date for the two of us or ain’t it?” Jon wondered, watching April, making sure she was doing alright. “You’re getting good at this,” he admitted.
