colettewhitlock:
A small part of her wondered if they left now, would anyone really notice? If they snuck off into the night and it made it their own, rather than a shared distance across a ballroom. Though even without saying it aloud, she knew just how naive the idea was, no matter how much she wished it. Because they weren’t just anyone, and they both had reputations to uphold, even if she hated the mere idea. And thus her fantasy of disappearing into the evening was left to mere daydream, her gaze now settled on Clayton.
Though as they parted, she couldn’t help but note his expression. The slight furrowing of his brows, and the way his tone had dropped. Only speaking once again to repeat her own phrase, and Colette was left to wonder if she had messed up. And so before she could overthink her next actions, the petite brunette reached out towards him. “Clay,” One hand rested against his arm as she urged him closer, only to take a careful step onto the banister of the balcony. “–it’s more.” The whispered promise escaped her lips as her weight shifted, and she used the extra height the step offered to meet his lips.
It was a chaste kiss, though she ran the length of her nose against his own for a moment. “So much more.” Pressing one arm around his shoulders, she gently placed yet another kiss against his cheek before pulling back. “I don’t know how to do this, but just know, there’s no one else I’d stare at across the room alright.” Pressing her lips together she turned, her other hand still grasping his own as she took a few steps back, extending their intertwined hands. “And I’ll see you tonight,” Meeting his gaze, she smiled as she gave his hand one last squeeze. “–better not keep me waiting, Baker.” And with that, she released and turned to enter back into the party.

Clayton hadn’t felt like this in fourteen months, ready to jump off a cliff and face the consequences when it hit the bottom because knowing she was falling right next to him was something that made this entire thing worth it. The fact that pursing her could easily get him killed was something he was willing to risk because she was worth it. If there was someone who deserved the best, it was her. His eyes settled on the double doors, knowing that she was going to be walking through them any minute and the two of them would settle into just gazing at each other from across the room.
His head turned back towards her when she said his name. His feet moved when she tugged him closer again, an exhale leaving his lips as his hands raised up to rest on either side of her face. “I want it to be,” his voice was soft, the vulnerability behind his tone was enough to almost shake him to his core. He kissed her back, moving his forehead against hers as he breathed out slowly against her mouth. His thumbs brushing along the spot by her ears as he let his eyes rest on her. “Alright, I look forward to staring at you all night.”
The male took a step back, dropping his hands to his side as he let his eyes rest on him. “I wouldn’t dare to keep you waiting, Miss Whitlock,” a small smile came along his features. He let his eyes follow her as she walked back into the party before he waited a few minutes, walking in himself.

ALEXANDRA.
Alexandra turned her head towards her sister. “Don’t be a smartass,” she gave her a look before bringing her drink up to her lips, taking a long sip of it as she turned her head to look over at the crowd once again as a small smirk came along her features. “It’s fine… Just two people who have sex coming to an event together, it’s nothing special.”
//
“I’m merely stating points, based off strong evidence.” Winking at her sister, Colette lifted the glass towards her lips for a sip. “I mean, it sounds a little special, but who am I to judge.” Granted her own situation wasn’t much better. “I’m glad you two came together, even if it’s just as two friends who sometimes have sex.”
CLAYTON.
Somehow it didn’t seem like his words were getting across the way he wanted them too and it made him wonder how much breath he was wasting with saying them. Although, it wasn’t something he wanted to think about or even touch base especially since the two of them were supposed to head back inside to a party where they had to act as if the other didn’t exist and it created a tension in his shoulders, having to witness her date dance with her and do all the things he couldn’t do in the public with her especially since whatever this was… it was real. At least that’s how he was looking at it.
“Sure,” his voice was soft. “We can meet at the bar. No one will be there, it’s the perfect place… unless you want to meet at my place.” The invitation slipping from his lips without him thinking much about it especially since her coming over was something he wanted. Not because he wanted to get another roll in the sheets with but he wanted to prove to her that this was much more than another conquest. She wasn’t like the rest of them, someone he wasn’t serious about. Once she started to go on about how her siblings would notice she was missing, his hands dropped from her face down to the sides of her neck. “Yeah I know… I’m just takin’ a few more seconds.”
“I’m counting on it.” It was true. Throughout the night, the male planned on glancing in her direction to see if she would be looking back. There was a dreadful sinking feeling in the depths of his chest as the end of their little sneak away together was coming to an end. Of course, a part of him felt over the fucking moon but the hesitation coming from her had him double guessing what he had assumed was happening between them and her next set of words were icing on the cake.
“ - right,” he cleared his throat, pulling his head away from hers and dropping his hands down to his side. “Just fun.” He cleared his throat, putting his hands into his pockets. “You should probably leave first,”

ADDISON.
There were certain privileges that came with her life, her father had been incredibly influential and the money he made while working in the syndicate allowed Addison to lead a rather charmed life. Now that he was in prison, all of his assets had been left to Addison and she was tasked with keeping everything afloat until his return. She smiled at the uptick in the brunettes voice and laughed softly. “Well she’s a fantastic friend too.” Her fingers found the straw in her drink and she twirled it slowly in the glass as she looked back up at the woman. “Oh, yeah I was dancing with him earlier. He’s very charming.” She smiled and kept her eyes on the woman, wondering who she was. “Do you know him?”
//
“I can’t say I blame you for bragging, I am utterly impressed.” Whoever the woman was in front of her, Colette could see with ease, that she was someone who could charm just about anyone. With her crystal eyes, and confident tone, it’d be more than easy to get lost in an evening with her. Which in Las Vegas, made for a dangerous encounter, and though she was sure the woman in front of her didn’t care who Colette may be, she noted she should take note of the other female. “I think everyone knows, Payton.” Rolling her eyes, she couldn’t help the slight smirk that twitched her features. “His brother though, I think if I had any interest to spare, it’d fall on him.” It wasn’t a direct lie, and she knew she shouldn’t even be mentioning Clayton, but it was hard to keep her mind from tracing back to the male. “He’s something else.”

JEREMY.
Jeremy had allowed himself, only on selective nights where his mind wasn’t clouded by inebriation, on how this reunion would fair. Every scenario that he’d imagined compared to this very moment exactly, except that he could have never prepared for her actual expression. The look in her eyes were waves of confusion and shock and while he waited to see even a splash of happiness at his being there it never came. Of course, he thought to himself it’s what eh deserved at least. When she reached over, hand making contact with his forearm, he moved his own fingers to go over hers. “This isn’t Paris.” he agreed, “And you’re not dreaming.” he sighed. Had she dreamt of their reunion? “I’m a-” he paused on how to word this, “I’m back in Vegas…for good.” he continued looking down at their hands before moving it from hers. He shook his head to himself, there was a reason that he’d left Paris, left her. He needed to remember that, not allow himself to be weak, yet again, because he knew if he had to make the same decision again it’d be harder. Having to pick himself up again felt completely impossible. “Can we- go somewhere to talk?” he offered not wanting to engage in a discussion here, for all eyes to see. His eyes looked to find hers once more, this time tensing himself for her to tell him to fuck off. He definitely deserved it.

Maybe she had been a fool since the first night they had met, noting just how readily she had allotted him into her life. As if he had been there all along, the pair had fallen into a particular pattern together. Everything between them seeming so innocent; that for a moment, Colette had permitted herself to dream. To wonder what it might be like to spend more than just a few significances with someone, but to build and form something greater. Although before she could really consider it, it seemed as if Jeremy was slipping through her grasp, and she was left with less than when she'd started. A void created in his wake, and a desperate reminder of endeavor. "Vegas," Furrowing her brows, the woman struggled to keep her composure. Of course, she had never been known for a lack of sentiment, however, at this moment, she prayed for control. "--of course you're here." A city filled with ghosts, some alive while others, well they haunted in the darkest hours of the evening. "There's a balcony," It was a stupid idea, yet it seemed her feet carried a different idea as they led her towards the edge of the room. Only once did she look back to see if Jeremy was following before entering into the cool night air, her hands reaching for the banister as she attempted to find some sort of steady support. "You're not here because you followed me, you're here because..." Trailing off, she closed her eyes, turning her face towards the shadowed sky. "Because of some other reason, and it was all just chance, a gamble, it's almost ironic, isn't it Jer?" A venture in Las Vegas.
