First full day in Seattle meant a mandatory visit to the Pike's Place Market. Pike's Place Market on a sunny day in March meant everyone was out and about in the bustle of a farmer's market. Pike's Place has a similar feel as the French Market in New Orleans, but with a cooler, Northwest vibe.

We stopped at the Pike's Place Fish Market, where their charismatic team charmed the pants off the crowd, who'd gathered to watch a spectacle of fish tossing. One guy offered a sample of smoked salmon, which I tried to decline, to which he gently replied, "Why?". A pathetic excuse about how I'm not really into fish started to escape, but I trailed off and took a piece. #yolo

It was phenomenal. 

Varying colors and textures and sounds invaded my senses as we continued exploring. We discovered tulips (my favorite), daffodils, maple donut bites with bacon, overpriced antiques, a serious map collection, and satisfying beers. The day was full, relaxed, and perfect in every way.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is an imposing religious and national landmark in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Initiated by the late president HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque’s architectural design is a blend of Moroccan and traditional Turkish with many global features.

The Grand Mosque features 82 domes of Moroccan design all decorated with white marble. It has approximately 1,000 columns in its outer areas which are clad with more than 20,000 marble panels inlaid with semi-precious stones. The main prayer hall features the world’s largest chandelier under the main dome, as well as the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet made in Iran.

On Wednesday, legislators in Michigan’s Senate passed a bill “which not only neglects to protect students based on sexual orientation or gender identity, but creates a special exception for bullies who have a ‘sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction.’”

The rebuke entered into the record by Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer is worth taking a couple of minutes to watch.
