Colin was the result of a one night stand between two Indo-Guyanese immigrants in New York City. He never knew his father was was raised by only his mother. However, his mother cared very much about him and always did her best by him.
Colin didn't like growing up in New York. He found it too bustling and overwhelming. He hated crowds. He was diagnosed with autism at a young age, so he always understood why. Kids at school always sort of saw him as an oddball, so he spent a lot of time alone in the school library. He loved books, especially romance and fantasy.
Another area where Colin thrived was boy scouts. He knew everything he needed to know about surviving in the wilderness and most of his friends came from his troop. However, when he realized he was attracted to boys, he couldn't stay. He left during his freshman year of high school without much explanation and only came out as pansexual in his senior year.
After leaving the boy scouts, he put his focus into writing. The world around him was too much, and writing was the perfect escape. He could build his own worlds in his head. Not perfect ones, because that didn't make for a good story. But ones he felt more comfortable in nonetheless.
Colin was planning on going to college somewhere quiet, however his mother was diagnosed with cancer. There was no one else to take care of her, so Colin attended NYU and stayed in the city to take up the task. He majored in English Literature.
At NYU, he met a woman who fell madly in love with. Colin hated crowds, but loved the idea of having a person. He truly believed this woman has his soulmate, so when she rejected his proposal, it broke his heart.
His mother died not long after he graduated from NYU, so he started looking for journalism jobs in quieter areas. He hated writing about real life, and his goal in life was to publish a book. But he had to support himself somehow. He was hired at Blackstone Bulletin and moved to Texas.
Initially, he lived Downtown. It was a step up from New York City, but not the tranquil life he desired. That was when he met Robert, and elderly man who was in the final years of his life. Colin knew how to care for a dying person, so he took it upon himself to help the old man out. Robert had no family, so when he died, Colin inherited the ranch he owned in the basin.
That ranch is ideal for Colin. He loves living in it. He even took up horse riding, it got him out in nature and peace and he loved the bond he could build with a horse.
His manuscript is nearly finished, and he is proud of how it is shaping up. But he refuses to send it to publishers until it is absolutely perfect.
