Here is a fact that can help you understand why this may lead to extinction if we do not stop ivory trade. An elephant lives averagely for 50 to 70 years. Its puberty is at the age of 14 to 17 years. An elephant gives birth to only one offspring at a time except the very rare cases that it gives birth to twins. The interval at which it gives birth is 4 years on average and its gestation period is 22 months. From that, an elephant basically has 30 to 50 years to give birth but considering the intervals at which it gives birth and its gestation period, an elephant may just give birth 4 times its entire life. That means that for every 30 years only 4 elephants are added into the population by one elephant. But remember that every 15 minutes one elephant is poached. That simply means that the elephant population can never be higher that what it is every 15 minutes if we do not end this disaster and nightmare. Please lets protect our beauty and stop poaching. Poaching is not worth it. The utensils or whatsoever products are made from elephant tusks are not all worth it. An elephant is priceless and its life in every ecosystem is all worth it Photo from @markjdrury #savetheelephants #jointheherd #wildaid #worthmorealive #dswt #elephant #elephantlove #conservation #wildlife #wildlife_seekers #wildlifephotography #animal #animallover #nature #naturelovers #natureaddict #natgeo #nationalgeographic #safari #amboseli #kenya #africa #african_portraits #africanamazing #picoftheday #photooftheday #instagood #instanature @doutzen @elephantcrisisfund #knotonmyplanet @wildlifeplanet
