Mizu’s development as a character is so captivating to me because it isn’t linear. One moment she’s carrying Taigen’s deadweight after swearing she has no room for friendship, ensuring Akemi and her attendants safety before the gunfire starts after we’ve seen her plow through innocents to accomplish her goal –and the next she’s burning down all of Edo after she purposely threw a lit candle. Mizu makes catastrophic mistakes….and yet she’s still trying to choose things other than revenge even when she’s been hurt and betrayed in the past…she’s still seeking companionship, still trying to be the selfless hero that Ringo sees her as. She’s growing and she’s healing.
And that’s a beautiful thing, we love her because she’s human 💖

This piece is actually about my loneliness and the things I’ve learned about myself in the last year or so…but especially in recent months…but it’s also just about my connection to Echo as a character and the ways that I feel represented in media and the bad batch💖

UH! so glad you asked 🤭
I was sitting down and just….thinking because I wanted to add one more element to the painting but I just wasn’t sure what it should be….and I figured that hey I don’t….i don’t have anything on here that represents the cold…like from the cryopod he was in for who knows how long? So I started thinking of things that are old but not immediately recognizable as cold. And then I remembered….whack-a-pack balloons! Like the ones you might get on Valentine’s Day or Christmas (at least I did as a kid) and if you don’t know what a whack-a-pack is….its this little decorative…balloon…and yiu hit it (whack it) and it breaks this little pouch inside of citric acid and distilled water and then there’s some chemical reaction with the backing soda outside of the pack which produces a gas (blah blah blah you get it) and the balloon inflates…
BUT THE POINT IS!
The chemical reaction…makes the balloon COLD.
SO!!! whack a packs….like Echo….are broken (explode?) then become cold (techno union cryopod) AND THEN RISE!! (Not literally bc whack a packs don’t produce helium OBVIOUSLY but ITS A BALLOON AND WHEN WE THINK OF BALLOONS THEY RISE!!)
There’s my Ted talk….Echo is a whack a pack balloon…he explodes…he gets cold….and he’s still a total badass 💖
You can’t tell me he wouldn’t wear fuchsia and absolutely rock it working at Dunkin’….don’t ask how I came to this conclusion…
Kudos to Lush for hav the coolest wrapping paper….i saved it and made art with it….

This is also a legit….plaster sculpture I made last year that’s in the digital collage I made….the base is a live plaster cast of my head….and the ad ons are a mix of eva foam, finished washers, faucet washers, and that clear tubing stuff you use for plumbing….im so sorry that these are the only pictures I have of it right now 😭
