this website’s obsession with labels is kinda wild to me. “psychological therian” “spiritual therian” “p-shifting” im a fuckin dragon idk
like you can label yourself however you want no one can stop you but also the way queer people on here are expected to categorize every single aspect of their identity into rigid and mutually exclusive boxes is probably not good for queer community longterm
☀️💜
Comic about self care
Hey. Hey you. Do not try to make your communities palatable to people who will hate you regardless. Do not throw the "weird ones" of your community under the bus. It will not save you. It will only exclude the people who need the most protection
Be weird, don't let them force you to change yourself or your communities. For fucks sake, do not become palatable‼️
theres such an expectation of the host as a "real" and "normal" one and i think its because or related to the general idea of DID, plurality, and neurodivergency in general as like, a curable infection. like, the flu, you know? i think a lot of people really think therapy is supposef to give you medicine that makes you Normal™ and thats why people complain when it takes too long or whatever.. anyway i think its related because, people see alters as just, symptoms of the curable infection they think plurality is, and think the host is "the one whos ACTUALLY real/the body/person i know" instead of seeing plurality as the way we are.
and its, super frusturating. people get weird about hostless systems because that means theres no "real one" or whatever. people get weird if the host isnt exactly completely aligned with their perception of the "real person beyond the disorder." and lets not pretend hosts that do align with the body are respected either - no one can be 1 to 1 with someone elses perception of them and, generally, people want systems who do fit their expectations to never change or feel better about thsemselves or their plurality Ever so they can continue going "see!! this is what REAL systems are like!" even if theyre hurting the system in question (or ARE the system in question and hurting themselves).
i think i got a little off track here. we use the word "host" a little weirdly for ourselves. we've spent a lot of time with no one we'd call host and a lot more time with various hosts, none of whic would fit the "normal real person i know" expectation, so this is really glaringly obvious and frusturating to see propagated by papers, professionals, random people, the community itself....augh.
so headmate who hasn't fronted in awhile and was jarred by braimade referring to like non-sourced/non-introject headmates, because it was originally for something like non-spiritual headmates/systems (or like systems with a psychological origin)
my impression is it sort of feels to me like it's people who don't believe/know spiritual systems exist re-defining the term, since I have seen people go "all alters are brainmade" in response to that term being used and in general the community has leaned a lot more towards like. being extremely psychological-focused and excluding spiritual systems
so like it could have been intentional with trying to erase "endo terminology", or it could have been unintentional because people don't know anything about spiritual systems
though that sucks so much because it was such a useful term as a mixed origin system and to like describe our experiences being both spiritual and psychological ;w;
plural acceptance to me looks like the concept of one body being multiple people being entirely normal. plural acceptance to me is "hey, whats up? who am i talking to?" being the most normal question in the world. plural acceptance to me is it being nothing of note when someone uses plural we/us. plural acceptance to me is online conversations not dying when someone uses a proxy or signoff. plural acceptance to me is in-sys relationships being treated as serious and natural as any other kind of relationship.
I think this is an uncharitable sentiment to have because I know the actual intention of this type of post is positive, but whenever I see someone saying “Who cares if some non/alterhumans have an identity rooted in delusion or psychosis! So what?” I have a slightly sour taste in my mouth. Because, like, I think you should care. “Who cares” only works until someone presents rhetoric that sways you in one direction or another. You should care about protecting the autonomy of the delusional and psychotic in your community. It’s important!
The DIY Headspace guide is finally done! This is a neat little guide for designing your own space. Here is the Pinterest board I am maintaining, if you are having trouble typing in the link yourself.

what is this "unreality syscourse" you speak of <-clueless
So syscourse pretty much boils down to trying to determine if endogenic systems exist or not (and what terms they're allowed to use, but that's another can of worms).
The result of that is if you are an endogenic system, syscourse ends up being mostly about people trying to straight up say either you aren't real and/or your memories/experiences aren't real.
This can be an unreality trigger if you have a mental illness or mental disability that is sensitive to it (DPDR in our case, but existential OCD does not help). It actually is one of the biggest contributors for a very long dissociative episode we were in (still sort of are in/recovering from).
Even for the terminology/resource gatekeeping syscourse, there are still elements of that where it normally boils down to stereotyping (i.e. "endogenic systems don't have trauma" but you, have trauma, or "endogenic systems don't have parts" but you have parts), but it's to a much lesser extent.
Can't express how stress free being open minded is.
Some lesbians use he/him? Oh cool.
Some people have people inside their head and sometimes it's fictional chars? Sick your brains like a pirate ship they're all working to run.
Some people like being treated like a pet dog? Bark bark bro.
Being fat isn't unhealthy but a perfectly normal type of body to have? Kinda beautiful how different we can all be.
Something doesn't make any fucking sense? Cool an opportunity to learn. And even if I can't figure it out it's cool we still have mysteries today.
It's just... idk man. People are weird. Being a person is weird. Society is weird. The universe is weird. Rather than having to "normalize" everything, just accept that some people are weird. So are you. Nothing is normal. the rules are all made up. I once saw a Klingon pushing a baby stroller down the street in toronto. The world is a weird place, man. Just roll with it.
call me spork the way i got both and neither of them work
If you've never seen someone write about their experiences with a species or character or entity or object or concept that you identify as, or if you've never found traces of other people who have identified as the specific nonhuman or fictional thing that you identify as, consider this a sign for you to write about your experiences!
Leave tracks! Show that you were here! Share what you experience and how you feel and understand it! If not for your own future benefit, then for the benefit of those who come after and wonder if someone like you existed!
the opposite of "complex dissociative disorder" is "simply plural". everything's connected guys
HAHA
"nobody is denying that an innerworld is not a real place" we are 👋
Like gateway systems, which are systems who feel like their headspace is an existing world, aren't that uncommon. Hell that's what we've identified as since like 2016.
We view our headspace as a real place metaphysically. It might not have the same properties as the physical world and it's a complex thing, but yeah we would consider it to be a real place overall and more a dimension we inhabit.
This isn't even a system-specific belief. There are singlets who might have inner worlds that they consider real, see astral travel/astral spaces. We've met plenty of maladaptive daydreamers too who feel their paracosms are real.
Also once again, comorbidity with psychosis and sanism aside, boy howdy you guys have to stop telling people things aren't real when dealing with dissociative disorders
odetta walker from the dark tower II: the drawing of the three is canonically plural!!
she is described to have an "alternate personality", detta walker, who is unknown to odetta and was brought on by head trauma at a young age. detta suppresses odetta for most of the story, however odetta does return :]
.
Aleks and Eryk from Brom, are canonically plural!
The pair are a strzygoń (which is the male version of a type of vampire from polish folklore), and were literally described as someone with two souls. The pair are shown communicating internally and switching on command, most notably Eryk switching in to help protect Aleks when he was being picked on. Eryk is almost a textbook example of a protector/persecutor!
So yes check out the graphic novel!! It's in polish and I'm not sure if there's an english translation but i highly recommend it!! (We almost cried when Eryk and Aleks showed up so... best characters and super relatable to our experience!!! One of the best representations of plurality in media we've seen!! :D
I usually just post these with no commentary of my own, but this one was really hard to search for. Typing in Brom, Aleks or Eryk doesn't bring up anything on Google. Presumably because it's not in English. So after a bit of searching, I thought I'd link (what I think is) it to make it easier to track down for anyone interested in learning more.
Brom. To nie jest jego prawdziwe imię. Marysia nie ma c…
