Some scratch notes from my own swatching experiments on colored pencils I own. The page won’t be completed, but a few colors here have marker duplicates listed. This was intended to just be a comparison of the colors when applying a blender vs burnisher. (Both derwent brand blender and burnisher pencils)

Discoloration notice

This color WILL fade over time. Just compared this image to another swatch of the color today. The swatch is around 2-3 years old. This is due to sun exposure.

List of Prismacolor markers and discoloration over time

Realized it was hard to find a source anywhere that lists this information. Everything here is from my own experience.

When I talk about “haloing” I’m referring to the yellow discolored produced around the edges of colors. The yellow discoloration extends over the passage of time. I’ll upload photos to help explain this better later. Any additional findings will be added since I plan to test out more colors.

Discoloration

This section has to do with drastic discoloration in general, regardless of limiting sun exposure. As far as I can tell, I haven’t seen any halo around these colors, nor have their discoloration affected any pages they might be sandwiched between.

On an additional note, any personal insights on color duplicates (for brands unlisted from here) would be much appreciated! I haven’t been able to see what alcohol marker brands are on Amazon these days, so I haven’t catalogued any of them.
