AESTHETICS     :     poorly  applied  black  nail  polish  ,    left  hand  stained  with  blue  ink  ,  blowing  too-long  bangs  out  of  eyes  ,  searching  for  a  fallen  earring  back  in  a  carpet  that  definitely  needs  to  be  vacuumed  ,  a  glowing  rainbow  keyboard  in  the  middle  of  the  night  ,  jolting  awake  at  five  in  the  morning  on  the  floor  ,  torn  and  crumpled  papers  missing  the  wastebasket  ,  the  clinking  of  fingers  wearing  copious  rings  ,  showing  up  to  class  on  monday  drowning  in  a  dark  sweatshirt  that  isn’t  theirs  ,  echoing  laughter  from  another  room  ,  a  skipping  cd  in  the  car  ,  seeing  the  best  even  in  the  worst  ,  standing  in  the  rain  with  arms  spread  while  wearing  a  grin  ,  embroidered  jackets  ,  stickered  laptop  ,  reddening  ears.

luci  was  born  to  a  single  mother  ,  father  having  more  or  less abandoned  their  mom  once  he  found  out  about  the  pregnancy.  she  was  young  ,  just  nineteen  and  terrified  about  having  to  raise  a  child  on  her  own.  luckily  ,  her  friends  were  more  than  happy  to  help  ,  after  all  ,  it  does  take  a  village.

they  grew  up  a  ‘  gifted  kid  ’  ,  entering  poetry  competitions  and  submitting  works  to  poetry  journals  and  even  getting  them  published.  unfortunately  ,  at  the  start  of  highschool  ,  their  mother  fell very  ill  so  they  neglected  school  work  to  take  care  of  her.

this  continued  until  past  college  ,  until  finally  she  began  to  feel  much  better  unexpectedly.  she  urged  luci  to  go  to  college  ,  so  they  applied  for  somers  since  it  didn’t  seem  difficult  to  get  into  with  the  grades  they  had  and  it’s  not  too  far  from  home  just  in  case.  there  was  a  fight  where  they  wanted  to  stay  at  home  and  commute  ,  but  she’s  making  luci  dorm  for  ‘  the  full  college  experience  ’  &  so  they  stop  worrying  about  her

right  now  ,  they’re  adamant  on  finishing  writing  their  horror  novel  or  at  least  a  few  of  their  short  horror  stories.  luci  won’t  admit  it  ,  but  they’re  much  better  at  writing  romance  ,  it  comes  more  easily  to  them.  they  have  a  few  unpublished  finished  short  romance  stories  targeted  to  the  new  adult  demographic  that  they’re  debating  sending  in  under  an  alias.

PERSONALITY     :     

easy  going  ,  fun  ,  loud.  behaves  like  an  extrovert  but  needs  a  lot  of  time  alone  to  recharge.

you  will  never  see  them  without  headphones  or  their  journal.

tries  really  hard  to  give  off  that  edgy  e-boy  look  but... it’s  really  just  a  facade  and  you  can  tell  it  is  within  1  minute  of  talking  with  them

excitable  ,  bouncy  ,  all  smiles  and  loud  laughter.  

gullible... flirts  with everyone  without  realizing... a  bit  naive....  also  very  much  a  mess  

the  type  to  fall  for  scam  emails... they  want  to  help  everyone

LOVES  animals.  has  probably  tried  to  sneak  a  stray  cat  into  class  or  the  dorms.

they  do  believe  in  love  at  first  sight  it’s  embarrassing.  super  cheesy.

        “    hello  ?  —-  ground  control  to  major  tom  …  are  you  even  listening  to  me  ?     ”  

     “     YES  I  AM     !     ”     NO  THEY’RE  not.  that  doesn’t  stop  them  from  guessing  what  the  conversation  was  about.     “     youuuu  were  talkin’  about  how  much  everyone  hates  that  professor  you  have  to  take  this  semester  but  you  had  no  other  options.     ”     it’s  a  shot  in  the  dark  ,  and  something  tells  them  that  it  completely  missed.

𝐅𝐓. 𝐄𝐒𝐑𝐀​:

“have  some  faith.  it  wasn’t  on  purpose,  at  least  this  time.”  she  capped  the  bottle,  putting  it  back  into  her  bag.  “i  used  to  do  it  for  parties  first  year,  but  i  kept  losing  my  bottle  and  reusable  bottles  don’t  come  cheap.  how  did  you  take  booze  to  a  party?  you  can’t  just  show  up  with  a  bottle  of  ciroc,  it’s  too  bulky.”

     “     SO  YOU  HAVE  ,  THEN     ”     THEY  say  pointedly  with  a  grin.     “     i  usually  get  a  bottle  of  snapple  ,  those  glass  ones  ,  when  i’m  getting  ready  to  go.  i  drink  half  of  it  or  put  it  in  a  cup  for  later  and  i  mix  the  rest  of  it  with  whatever  i  have.  i  don’t  like  straight  vodka  ,  it’s  gross.     ”

𝐅𝐓. 𝐀𝐕𝐀​:

    she  gathers  her  things  from  her  table  in  the  library,  hand  brushing  against  another’s  as  they   too  reach  for  her  notebook.  she  snatches  the  book  quickly,  only  feeling  relief  when  it  is  in  her  grasp.  “  did  you  think  that  was  yours  ?  ”  ava  asks,  brows  knitted  together  in  confusion,  “  because  i  can  assure  you,  it  is  not.  ”

     THEIR  HEAD  IS  SWIMMING  WITH  excerpts  from  the  article  they  were  taking  notes  on.  it  hurts  and  all  they  want  to  do  is  curl  up  under  a  pile  of  blankets  and  sleep  for  maybe  an  hour  or  ten.  sure  ,  they  only  did  thirty  minutes  of  actual  productive  work  ,  but  it  was  exhausting  nonetheless.  in  their  fatigue  as  they  gather  their  laptop  and  notebook  ,  their  hand  reaches  for  the  notebook  of  the  person  they  were  sharing  the  table  with.  her  voice  startles  them  awake  ,  eyes  widening.     “     oh  ,  that’s  totally  my  bad     !     didn’t  notice  ,  sorry.     ”     they  stuff  their  laptop  into  their  backpack.     “     i’m  guessing  it’s  important  if  you’re  so  protective  of  it.     ”

𝐅𝐓. 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐑​:

“Coffee, coffee, coffee… I need all the coffee!” the tall girl stated, hopping from one foot to the other as she waited for her order. Starr had been up all night streaming video games. It hadn’t seemed to occur to her how she might need a little bit of sleep to get through classes. She was just having too much fun. She finally got her order and took a sip, though the name written on her cup finally registered in her brain as she was trying to swallow, causing her to cough while she laughed. “Sayrah? How did they get Sayrah out of my name? It’s not even a common spelling for that name!” she asked, laughing and waving her hand in front of her burned tongue.

     LUCI  HAS  THEIR  OWN  HANDS     (     fingernails  painted  with  chipped  black  nail  polish     )      wrapped  around  a  cup  of  steaming  tea.  coffee  never  sat  well  with  them.  they  watch  the  girl  in  amusement  ,  taking  a  carefully  measured  sip  from  their  cup.     “     watch  it     —     !     ”     but  they’re  too  late  ,  she’s  probably  burned  her  tongue.  luci  hides  a  laugh  ,  taking  another  sip  so  their  smile  doesn’t  show.     “     i  heard  they  misspell  names  purposefully  ,  y’know  so  that  we’ll  post  a  picture  of  it  on  social  media  and  inadvertently  give  the  coffee  shop  more  attention.  it’s  a  marketing  tactic.     ”

𝐅𝐓. 𝐄𝐒𝐑𝐀​:

esra   looked   down   dubiously   at   the   uncapped   water   bottle   in   her   in   hands.   she   had   filled   two   the   night   before,   but   in   a   rush   to   get   to   her   morning   class,   she   had   grabbed   the   first   one   she   saw   in   the   fridge.   bringing   the   bottle   to   her   nose,   she   sniffed   the   contents   before   relaxing   back   into   her   seat.   “there   is   always   a   fifty   percent   chance   that   it’s   vodka,   can’t   be   too   careful.”

     THEY  WATCH  HER  CURIOUSLY  ,  A  single  brow  raising  at  her  strange  behavior.  who  smells  a  water  bottle     ?     oh  ,  that’s  why.  nevermind  then.     “     you  have  two  identical  water  bottles  that  you  filled  ,  one  with  vodka  and  one  with  water     ?     and  always     ?     how  often  do  you  do  this  and  have  you  ever  had  vodka  in  class  because  of  it     ?     ”
