welcome to my silly little blog! i post about whatever i want all the time but my main interests are pigeons and the sonic the hedgehog franchise at the moment. pigeons have been my special interest for a decade and i will always happily talk about my flock, feel free to ask me about them! mutuals can ask for my discord + my dms are always open :)

re:bollers i am kind of sad that so much of his writing for the archie comics relied on love triangles and melodrama because i genuinely think he was the best of the adventure era writers and you could see with return to angel island that he had a talent for pulling story threads together and giving them a satisfying conclusion but instead most of what he wrote made me go ughhhhhhhhhhhh not againnnnnnnn

thoughts on the adventure era if i feel like yapping: people who say the classic era is the worse of the two are LYINGGGGG. even at its worst the classic era didn't make me want to explode quite like the adventure era did. it's just a combination of everything. the love triangles. the character assassinations. mobius 25 years later. chaos knuckles. all of it combines to make a whole that is fucking awful. a couple of the bollers arcs were okay when he wasn't fixating on love triangles and i like j. axer and jon gray's art. i also think that spaz's art is really good after he transitions from the really heavy lines and often a bit too busy linework to a simpler style.

honestly this era just has too much melodrama that isn't executed particularly well at any point. i think the front half of it was a lot better because we had the big bombastic return of robotnik after 25 issues of him being dead, and this robotnik's existence as an even crueller au version of himself lends itself very well to the stakes being raised. the push and pull between robotnik and the freedom fighters is done very well. until issue 100. and then it starts going downhill. they start piling on the melodrama and it doesn't really let up until 125 with the xorda attack and sonic getting blasted into space. 130-159 are all dogshit except return to angel island. it can stay. jon gray's art is the only thing salvaging 134 even a little bit and i'm biased because he gave tekno like 4 cameos. i've been kind of vaguely annoyed this whole era because they've slowly been taking sonic's personality away so that he can be a vessel for drama more often. they're doing it with sally and bunnie too and it makes me so so sad that they were done dirty like that for so long
