Estraven the traitor
every once in a while an artist will release a bunch of songs about smoking cigarettes out of nowhere and at least one of them will name-drop a brand and i don't want to be a conspiracy theorist about this but man. the oldest trick in the book and you're still pulling it..........
i went to the museum and fell in love with a flying sculpture fittingly titled in love with the world (artist anicka yi)
For a recent project, In Love with the World (2021), Yi created helium-filled sculptures she calls "aerobes" that mimic the biology of jellyfish or fungus. Floating and twirling gracefully in the air, these flying sculptures have been programmed with their own sensory intelligence—using input from sensors that detect heat, air quality, scents, and fellow aerobes, they navigate the gallery and approach visitors. Autonomous, robotic, yet also biomorphic, these lifelike vessels are the artist's attempt to reimagine our relations with machines and other organisms, as Yi explains: "Machines don't necessarily have to serve us or scare us in order to coexist with us."
