every time i make a parallels post like this i get some clowncar reblogging it with some variation of this exact message, and like
1. if it’s just an opinion, why are you using such definitive language instead of ‘i think’ and ‘i feel’ and then trying to cover your bases by calling it that
2. why are you expressing that opinion on the post of a person who CLEARLY enjoys the animation in the later seasons, or why the hell would she be watching it and giffing new episodes the day they come out
3. you’re literally wrong? you’re literally wrong. you took one example and used it as a brush to paint a whole series.
OS is not “way better” in the animation department, the colours are a strange mix of grimey backgrounds on highly saturated foregrounds, the characters are stiff and often very static, they don’t move a lot, its biggest strength is its expressions and SM greatly outshines it even there. battles in OS were a fucking snorefest, nowadays they are 100% animation porn
to further drive home how terrible an example this is, the ep110 shot of pikachu up there isn’t even a good comparison, because he’s taking up the whole shot in that one. pikachu is meant to be the only focus in that scene, he’s expressing to misty that something is wrong with ash and he’s doing it alone. in the SM shot, he’s doing the same thing to clefairy but he’s joined by a whole cast of characters, so he is not the focal point, which is why he looks shoddier–the focus is on the GROUP as a whole, not just on pikachu.

i really don’t care if you folks who grew up with the anime and stopped watching it along the way have, like, preferences, but could you realize that most pokeani bloggers make these posts for OTHER pokeani bloggers? and that it’s not an invitation to slap your nostalgia goggles on and comment on our posts? i usually just block people but i’m getting so sick of this.
