"We have to buy time for the rest to fall back! Don't let the enemies punch through, or we can lose the transports!" The commander's voice crackled through the comms as the rough staccato of gunfire came their way. Explosive shells and shrapnel filled the air as the Ez8 took defensive positions. He'd die before he let his comrades down. He'd never back down, not after giving his word.
“Hold the line, huh? Easy.” Yeah, RIGHT. “Theres only...what, two dozen, maybe three dozen Zekes coming for us?”
Man, what the fuck had he dropped into THIS time...well, at least it wasn’t giant fucking monsters or Titans or any of the other weird shit he had fought during Cross-Verse operations...
“Lets see if I can’t slow them down for you.”
Command had been nice enough to give him some tools for this operation; some kind of “mobile suit” they said was called a “GM Cannon.”
The name was fitting considering the ordinance strapped to his shoulder...
“GOING LOUD!” There was a roar, and Ash felt the entire mobile suit shake and rattle as a 240mm shell loaded with an anti-MS “shredder” warhead arched gracefuly out over the field...and then exploded with a “clap” like a giant door closing.
“That’ll make them think twice!”
So, they did manage to scrounge up some support for the evac. .When the warheads detonated, the earpiece began to chirp. “Cannon, stand by- The hover truck will be sending details for immediate suppression fire mission.” Eledore’s truck could run the forward op, and the commander knew to trust his ears and instincts. “I don’t know which unit you’re with, but if the Zeon break through, we’ll lose the medical transports.” Shiro reaffirmed to his new ally, then refocused his efforts down range. “Eledore, I’ll be uploading my visual feed to you, see if we can help with anything to keep the Zaku’s pinned down.”
Ohhhhh. Uh. SHIIIITTTT... What the fuck was he supposed to say? No, not with any particular unit, Im from a totally differnet universe...
Wait, what about that group Io was part of?
“Copy that, awaiting coords. The Moore Brotherhoods got your back. No friendlies are getting smoked on OUR watch.”
Okay again, not the whole truth...it was just him and one other unit here, but that other unit...oh boy.
Chris had SAID it was called a “GM Barrage Heavy”, but that meant little to Ash. What he DID know was it had SIX 360mm cannons mounted on its shoulders and six legs to brace it. Speaking of...
He paused to flip a switch on his controls and link his COMS to Chris’s.
“Secondary fire support on standby as well. On your go, Commander.”
“Th-the Moore Brotherhood?! What the hell are Side 4′s commando unit doi-” A barrage of 100mm shells impacting near the truck jarred the radio officer’s thoughts and derailed the topic- “Listen, at this point, I don’t care if you’re Santa Claus, I’m going to be forwarding Commander Newbie’s data! Traversing fire across the coordinates given- Michel, get on that gun and make sure our friend’s fire is accurate-”
“Watch the flanks, Sanders! Keep up the barrage and bring down that Zeke! Keep them bunched up for the artillery to get their cannons on target!” With the 180mm cannon in hand, at this range, keeping the Zakus from spreading out was difficult, but not impossible. Coupled with beam fire from Joshua’s unit, Shiro was able to keep the Zakus’ attention focused on the customized RX-79[G] Ground Type. While the Ez8 pressed on, he kept an eye on his sensors. When that artillery unit fired, he’d need to pull back, just enough to not worry about the fire.
