Elizabeth watched the Andorian from the other side of the room, with her father in engineering and her mother on the bridge there was no one to stop her from approaching the man. She gets out of the chair, adjusts the bow on top of he head and walks over to him. “Are you Commander Shran?” She asks confidently, her blue eyes studying him, she’s never met him in person, at least not that she can remember.

Shran was on board Enterprise to help oversee some new upgrades. Whilst his crew took care of that, he was catching a short break in the mess hall. His antennae twitched as he detected the child's approach.

"I am Shran," he replied, trying, and failing, to hide his surprise. "I wasn't aware there were children on this ship. And you are...?"

((Edited rules and about pages. Not a big change, I just made them more streamlined. Verses page is not done yet, but will be pretty much the same as Kang’s (basically a pick your year).

It was quite clear that neither she nor the commander were all that happy about this entire situation. She followed him slowly, not really sure about what else she could do. “I’m sure it wasn’t.” She couldn’t resist the sarcasm, she had tried though.

“Well, I’m glad you didn’t. The Captain wouldn’t have been happy.” She smiled a little, especially as he started talking about the other captain. She didn’t know many Captains, but she did know that Captain Hernandez had had a cat. “Are you talking about Captain Archer’s wife, I heard she has a cat? It hates Trip, apparently.”

"So I hear," said Shran, half smirking at the thought.

They reached the turbolift and Shran keyed in the floor number.

"Your human need to care for furry animals is strange to us," he went on. "We use animals for food, clothing and parchment, but not as companions. There is no one on this ship qualified in animal maintenance. One of our nurses has been assigned the task and has been doing the best he can. I understand the creature has been vomiting on more than one occasion because of difficulties in digesting Andorian food. It may require attention from your veterinary experts." In other words, they didn't know how to look after a dog properly, and this was as close to an apology as Shran would get.

It had been a long week, and Brody hadn’t actually been happy that collecting the Captain’s pet had fallen to her, but she’d lost fair and square. She was one of the only spareable crewmen who could pilot, although it wasn’t her job here. She was going to use to leverage Trip into giving her an extra day in Coridan so she could actually see James.

As soon as she docked she took a breath and nodded to herself. She’d only actually met an Andorian once before, and that had been while she was on Ambassador Soval’s security detail all those years ago. She then climbed up to the hatch and got out, straightening her uniform as she did. “Thank you Commander.”

The desire to roll her eyes was strong, but at the same time, the desire to survive the mission overrode her usual sarcastic sensibilities. “Sure. Take me through to him. I hope he hasn’t given you too much trouble?”

Shran tried to resist the urge to scowl. He only half-succeeded. "It's nothing we couldn't handle," he muttered, not wanting to recall how the dog had soiled itself on him. Or give Archer an excuse for a laugh at his expense when the story got back to him.

He began leading Lieutenant Brody down the corridor, the guard following behind them. "When we found the creature," he remarked conversationally, "we were going to flush it into space. Fortunately I recalled how much your captain cares for useless animals. It seems a common weakness of your people. I met another Starfleet captain who spoke of having a pet feline." He also had some rather disturbing memories of encounters with Terran bovines, but preferred not to mention those.

Also, I don’t have as much free time as I used to and my illness makes it hard for me to sit up with the laptop for long periods of time. So I’m gonna be slow at doing replies and getting back to messages etc.

Finally, I will not respond to anyone who uses small text, because I can’t see what it says. 

I’ll put all this on my info pages eventually. I wanna redo my about/info pages and make this a multiverse blog while I’m at it so bear with me while I slowly get things sorted! This is assuming I manage to stay active instead of having another 6 month hiatus... I’ll do my best. Hope everyone is doing well!))

The Delivery

After a week of constantly sending and re-sending messages, at last Shran received a reply. Captain Archer was too busy to meet him in person (which he apologised for, so Shran would forgive him despite the inconvenience) and was sending one of his officers by shuttle to collect the... delivery... in his absence.

"Remember," he told his crew, "these humans are peculiar creatures, and they have a strange way of talking which you might find offensive. But you're to show them respect. They are our allies... and besides, they're much better to deal with than the Vulcans."

He was, of course, secretly hoping he could get something out of them. Intelligence, commodities, a debt... or whatever else they might offer.

As for the 'delivery,' that had been placed in a special secure room, but not before it found its way into the ship's silo and devoured most of the meat and dairy items in storage. Catching it had been a mission in and of itself - and it had ended up doing its business on Shran's uniform before he could stun it. Now the nurse was take care of it... but it was smelly and needed constant attention, and it was becoming more and more of an inconvenience...

Finally the shuttlepod arrived and docked. Shran went down to meet the officer. His crew hadn't yet been schooled in how to handle pink-skins, and he was afraid a misplaced word might undo the good relationship he'd forged with them. The security guard stood stood aside as the hatch opened.

"Lieutenant," Shran perked up his antennae in greeting. "Thank you for responding to our messages, even if it wasn't as fast as I'd have liked. If you have no objection, I'll take you to your... delivery... immediately."

I'm sorry to hear that. But I totally understand how you must be feeling. Still, what a pity. I've only just found someone who shares my interest in Shran.

((Thanks, man. :) Honestly, your wonderful asks have been one of the few things keeping this blog alive! It's such a shame that most of the other Ent people dropped off, though I hope they come back one day.))

((I'm back from hiatus, but I have a bit of an RP-related problem:

I love Shran, he's my favourite character from anything ever, and my favourite muse to play. Problem is, he's not very well known outside of the Enterprise wing of the Trek fanbase, which is probably the smallest group.

I tend to find, with all my muses, that I start losing my muse if I'm not consistently active. (What I mean by that is, if I go a few days to a week without having anything to post, I lose my inspiration to play that muse and I start forgetting little details.) But with most of the Ent RPers no longer being around, and most non-Ent fans not knowing who Shran is and not having much interest in RPing with him (which is understandable), it's hard to keep this blog active. The less active it gets the less I can be bothered, it's like a vicious cycle. >:l

And I can get off my ass and ask people for more threads, sure. But usually what happens is the other RPer has a TOS or TNG/Voy/DS9 character, so its easier for me to use my TOS or DS9 muses instead.

I don't mind waiting for posts, I'm not complaining about that- the issue is I never seem to have more than about 2 active threads on here at any one time. And while I love and really enjoy all the threads I have, with that small amount I find my inspiration slowly trickling away. I just log on, reply to one or two things, then log off again for a week. Know what I mean?

So. I'm not putting this blog on hiatus or closing it or anything, but I'm probably going to be less active and will log in and check my messages less often than before. I'm just kinda hoping some more Ent fans turn up eventually. I WANT to be more active on here, but I seriously have very little to do... I'm a bit more active on my other blogs, kangthedaharmaster​ and gnrlmartok.))

Brief Hiatus

I’m going to be away until around the 19th or 20th. Going to stay with friends upcountry for a week, and I also got a table at an art con! (More info is on my art blog - here if anyone’s interested! - be warned there are a couple of gory pics at that link though)

So I won’t be around until then, though I may update sporadically on my personal blog (I don’t log into my rp blogs via phone because I always end up losing the password and locking myself out!)

"I can get you today’s paper if you don’t believe me - still printed on actual paper and everything," Jack half-joked. He glanced around, trying to find something to corroborate his story that wouldn’t be instantly dismissed as fabricated evidence, but he was coming up short. "I have no idea how you got here, but I’ll do everything I can to send you back, I swear."

As well as that would work out. It wasn’t like they had control over the Rift, not yet, but maybe with a little Andorian help, they’d get a few steps closer.

"Paper...?" Shran narrowed his eyes. "That is a human thing, correct?"

(They don't have paper on Andoria. As an ice planet, it never produced any trees.)

Thinking it over for a moment, Shran decided that he might as well give this human a chance to explain. After all, he was the one holding the gun. It wasn't like this stranger could try anything.

"Fine," Shran said. "Take me to this paper. I assume that you are in command here? How should I address you?"

His irritation was expected and the fact that he appeared to be eager to stand nose to nose with her was unsurprising. Though his attempt was futile; he was far too short to be menacing. “It would be illogical for me to attempt to translate the report,” she informed him. “By giving you the text in its original language, translation errors are less likely to occur. If you have a question about a certain piece of the text, you could simply go back and compare it to the original language to further your understanding of what has been written.”

She paused for a moment to allow it to sink in before continuing, “I am with Starfleet now, Commander. I do believe that I have made my loyalties clear in the past. Captain Archer promised you the information, and I have given it to you.” Her eyes narrowed slightly, irritated that he had the audacity to suggest that she would disobey her orders.

All Vulcans were annoying, but Commander T'Pol was, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the most irritating of them all. Except perhaps Soval. Perhaps that was because Shran knew that she was a good person, and in her way, she was even a hero, a person of great and honourable accomplishments. One didn't expect heroes to have such downright aggravating personalities. In some ways, he held T'Pol in higher esteem than he did other Vulcans, respected her more... and that made her attitude ten times more annoying than it would have been, had it come from some stranger.

"Fine," he scowled at her. "So you are going to just sit here and wait whilst we dissect this information, are you? Fine with me!!"
