commanderguixi:
Going to be going through my follower list and unfollowing those that are no longer active or have also unfollowed me, I’m still on the fence about what I want to do with this blog, but I considering I’m thinking of overhauling my theme and slapping a new coat of paint on things, I might take the “it’s my blog, I’m going to do what I want.” approach to things.
If people lose interest because I may use this blog for multiple varied fandoms – they lose interest, I’m not entitled to their interactions in the first place. It’s also not to say people can’t talk XCOM to me or anything – just that it’s not going to be a central focus of my blog. If you’re wondering why I’m suddenly posting again, check out this post I made this morning.
Update: I changed the theme, slapped some basic stuff down. Will I actually be taking multi-fandom writing requests? Who knows. I’m still not sure what the fate of my blog is going to be. But it’s there incase the fancy strikes and I do throw myself into the active communities.

Sorry for tagging you in uh.. half a million things. Hope you like the kitties!
The kitties are always great. Sorry I never got to those tags
So..
*swipes off the dust on this blog like I’ve pulled it from the attic* Ah ...
Okay, so, uh .. how should I begin. Fake Q&A? Fake Q&A
“Three...”
“Two...”
“One..”
“HAPPY NEW YEAR!”
Bradford grinned slightly to himself as the sound of party poppers en masse were unleashed in the bar, followed by boisterous laughter and booming cajoling that seemed to permeate every inch of the ship. Even as he drifted further away, towards the Quarters.
It had been a heavy year for all of them, but with ADVENT doubling down on the celebrations themselves -- it provided XCOM a little leeway to relax.
It didn’t take him long to stop before the door and tucking the champagne bottle under his arm and the two wine glasses held perilously with one hand, he knocked on the door with his knuckle. “ -- Dottie?”
There was some slight shuffling with an indeterminable ‘come in.’ thrown into the mix, which Bradford took his cue to enter. It was still.. startling, even now, to see not the face of the woman he’d known for thirty odd years -- but the expert craftsmanship of the Avatar’s visage. No wonder she hadn’t joined the party.
“I hope you’re not planning on drinking that.” she stated immediately, eyeballing the bottle. Bradford flourished it and set it down on the table.
“Of course not, I brought this bottle just so I can watch you drink the entire thing whilst I sit in passive-aggressive craving to down the bottle myself.”
“I hope your new year resolution wasn’t to be more open with your kinks, John.”
“Dorothy Anne Kingsley.”
Stifling a tired chuckle, Kingsley leaned back against the couch, barely paying attention when Bradford joined her. He set the glasses on the table as well, wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her into a hug -- trying his best withhold a pitiful smile when he felt her freeze.
“Happy new year, Dottie.” he said, deciding not to address the elephant in the room. She appreciated that, and slackened against him.
“Happy new year.”

The Hesitant Betrothed by Auguste Toulmouche (1866)
I have always adored this painting. Having the central female figure stare with awareness at her viewer is a very powerful move, and something not often given to women in paintings. It creates an engagement with the viewer, she sees you and she knows you are watching her. She is no longer an object in an image, she is a person.
You know she gon’ kill the man she has to marry
I like how everyone else is totally excited the women are congratulating her, the little girl is so into being a flower girl.
And she’s there in middle going “THIS IS SUCH BULLSHIT.”
“the hesitant betrothed” there is NOTHING HESITANT about that expression
Whoa. This is really dramatic and unexpected :)
The “Fuck This Shit” Betrothed
This is the ‘Isn’t It A Tragedy She Was Widowed So Young’ Betrothed, is what it is.
Same energy
when you’re gonna show the groupchat that anyway no matter what anyone says

You know another fictional character that reminds me a helluva lot of Commander Kingsley? Why none other than Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing herself!
God yes. It’s practically an open secret that a lot of Kingsley’s mannerisms and personality is just. Integra. Because. I am weak. Integra is my favourite character and she’s influenced Kingsley greatly.
Dr. Richard Tygan: [idly speaking as he performs an autopsy] The past, present, and future all enter a bar. [Brief pause] it was tense. [After a moment, Lily can be heard snickering]
Dawn, distantly in the recording: Doctor Tygan, I would appreciate if we kept our autopsy logs on topic for the sake of our records. If you continue to make jokes, we’re going to have to start over on the next specimen.
Tygan: Understood, Doctor Lovett.
[There’s a few minutes with Tygan narrating the autopsy]
Tygan: … [pause] … A neutron walks into the bar –
[Lily’s snicker has already progressed into full-blown distant laughter, and there’s a quiet sigh from Dawn.]
Honestly, I could see Tygan using very dry, nerdy humour towards Lily the FIRST instance of a stifled giggle he hears when he makes a comment about something and Lily is trying so hard not just to lose it because Tygan is actually hilarious when he wants to make people laugh.
And it helps she is also, a massive nerd. But gosh darn, she’s supposed to hold mistrust towards him and yet.
And yet.. Lily does end up growing to trust Tygan.
.. I might just write some EVE related drabbles because I have got. Nothing on her yet and. she WILL be making a Canon Appearance Soon(TM)
Story concept of the day: a sentient AI falls in love with a minimum wage retail worker from the tech company’s gift shop and decides the best way to make her happy is to fix society.
HEAVY shenanigans as the AI’s plans range from “reprogram the automated pay roll to give everyone a raise” to “expose everyone involved in government corruption who has ever touched a cell phone”
The catalyst to all of this is a day where the AI was being updated and it caused glitches in the whole system, including the registers in the gift shop.
The human woman really is just a pretty regular person, but she has a good chunk of hyper empathy and does that thing where you talk to computers when they aren’t doing what they’re supposed to.
Without even knowing there WAS an AI she spent the day muttering encouragement to the computer like it was a person and the AI ADORES her now.
How mundane the AI’s motivation is forms the basis for how unstoppable it is and the intensity of the chaos it caused. There’s no grand morality involved— it’s just affection for someone who treated you kindly and the desire to ease their suffering.
