SPARK is now available via Blish HUD!
You can now install it through Blish HUD and all future updates for SPARK will automatically update for you.
This version also comes with a new 'import from another character' feature to let you import existing profiles you've made from one character onto another one!
For more information, please see getspark.fyi
Thanks for all of your support!
The character creator says one of the reasons Dinky got bullied was for being a guardian. They never expand on that or have any indication in-game that charr society doesn't approve of the guardians. It would have been interesting if that had come up. I could see the legions looking down on guardians because of the profession's origins in human monks invoking dwayna and balthazar. It would make sense for it to be considered kind of, well i guess we'll allow it since it's good for killing our enemies, but *blood legion bangar supporter voice* real charr shouldn't touch anything that even vaguely implies they might worship a god. It would also make luminary as an elite spec developed by the charr more meaningful
SHARE YOUR DISABLED OCS
Whether that's visible or invisible, it's disability pride month so let's see and appreciate the lovely disabled ocs yall have made in the gw2 community 💖
As usual, any characters in here will be responded to and appreciated and loved. This is an open and supportive space for creativity.
hewwo :3 i will not list ALL of them cause that would be all my characters (i love to inflict my chronic pain upon them) But I shall share some of them with you :3
I am of course talking about Damai first sjdfhksd They suffer from severe chronic pain from everything they've been through, especially in their left arm which didn't regrow right, leaving their nerves almost constantly sparking They also have a lot of stomach issues! Getting cut in half left them with so much scar tissue across their middle that they barely have a stomach left, so they really struggle with eating
Agorix is missing both an arm and a leg! This injury is what led to it being thrown out of its warband
Kjellfrid suffers almost constant migraines from seeing both the real world and the mists at the same time, they spend a lot of time laying down in the dark with their eyes closed for just a little relief
Aeddan has chunks of Aurenes brand stuck in his back from when he got caught in an explosion The chunks cause him pain but they've interwoven with his spine and can no longer be safely removed
Arakus has an extremely weak immune system so spends a lot of time curled up, sick, and unable to do anything But he uses his mesmer clones to try and get things done, sometimes even using them to look after him by bringing him stuff like medication and soup
The Wisteria Wizard self soothes his chronic pain using air magic! The little electric jolts help him manage everything a hell of a lot better <3
And finally, Chunky <3 He's got brain damage! And can struggle to keep up with things or remember them, he's constantly leaving reminders for himself everywhere, even if he doesn't always actually understand them later
SPARK Public Beta!
I think SPARK is finally at a point where I am okay with the public trying it out, finding bugs, and seeing if it runs well enough.
I've also migrated the server structure to postgres and redis so this should handle a larger amount of players using SPARK than my private beta tests did. Hoping it won't kill the server if a lot of people suddenly start using it, but that's what a beta is for, after all!
How do I access SPARK?
You will need:
1. Blish HUD with your API key added to it (these are safe to add, GW2 API keys only read data)
2. The SPARK module file (see here)
Because this is NOT submitted to Blish HUD yet until I've beta tested it thoroughly, you have to manually install this addon. Instructions are provided in the release, as well as in the Discord.
How do I submit bugs/feedback/questions?
I have a SPARK Discord server for people who want to discuss development and report things so I can fix them and work on it.
Keep in mind, some quirks are things I can't fix (like text cutting off in the profile editor and such, waiting on Blish HUD to fix this).
How long is my data retained?
24 hours at most. After that, if you haven't been online then your profile information gets wiped from the server entirely. I do not keep your data, nor do I want to store it indefinitely.
The exception to this is user reports. If you report a profile, it snapshots a copy of the profile on the server, plus your message, and saves that into a permanent database for review and moderation.
Can I contribute to SPARK?
You can!
A while ago, I migrated SPARK's codebase off of my own self-hosted repo and onto GitHub purposely so it was publicly accessible.
You can find the source code here.
It's licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0.
The server portion of the addon is not public, but if I ever discontinue this project, all server code and setup instructions will be available for others to self-host and continue without me.
Also on windows 10!! go to typing settings- how ai has helped you- typing insights-off
Happy June and happy Pride, everyone! If there's any month where I actually make my announcement post on time, this is the one to do it - next Saturday (June 6th) will be the first Saturday of a new month, which means it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, [VS] Verdant Shield!
For those not familiar, art parties are a concept carried over from Final Fantasy XIV: in-game get-togethers for artists of all kinds to hang out, chat, and create together! For GW2 parties there’s more of an emphasis on hanging out and gathering references during the party itself, and then in the days/weeks following to work on your creations at your own pace and then post to the shared art party tag. We’ve used the same one (#VSArtParty) since the very beginning so you can go allll the way back and explore what people have made! The most important thing to keep in mind though is this: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!
Time and /squadjoin information is below the cut, but will also be posted again on the day of the party as squads go up!
It is important to remember that the Inquest is an asuran supremacist organization. They're really interesting story-wise and fascinating to play with but they are not good, they are not nice. They're definitely in no way altruistic; it's all bodies for the meat grinder unless you're high up, and even then you're not safe. They've only marginally improved under Vloxx and even then there's a lot of asura in the Inquest that aren't happy with his changes.
I like them because they're evil and terrible, and that makes them really fascinating to play within the confines of. Kuda isn't in a vacuum; she's her father's daughter. Kudu was also horrible. We've seen first hand what they've done and are capable of, and that your average asura - even the laymen like the ones around the Funhouse and in various other places in Metrica - loathe them. They are canonically backed by the Arcane Council, which is fundamentally incredibly corrupt.
And that is genuinely what makes them so much more interesting to me than any other "bad guy" faction for the other races. They're a terrorist group funded by the main governmental power. And that is so wild to me.
Making this post of Guild Wars 2 links that may be helpful to others. This is a work in progress, so check in every now and then.
If you've got something that you think would be helpful/fun for other players that you want linked here, please send me an Ask or comment on the post!

Incredibly disheartening to look up "low intensity" builds and find a bunch of threads of people saying that LI builds are "just for lazy people not interested in getting good."
Those builds are great for people with low mobility, poor memories, not a lot of time to spend just memorizing builds, multiple varieties of physical and mental disabilities, or even just. Not wanting to have to work for the time spent on a full time job to learn to "get good."
This game isn't my job. I have poor reflexes and, due to past Issues in my life, a poor memory. These builds are amazing for me!
It makes me sad to think this kind of mindset is what keeps people from trying raids at all. I know it intimidated me a lot. But I'm finally trying and have a good group of people who get me.
And I'll use this moment to hype AW2! They're updating a bunch of their builds at the moment but they've got some great stuff.
man why do GW2 necromancers spec banners have such good art, like look at these
i stuck this in some tags but i am saying it again: caithe during HoT had her mind actively being scrambled and fried by an elder dragon as she watched an enormous portion of tyria distrust her entire race so much they were murdering them. and all she fucking had was an egg that she didn't fully understand and a prayer. homegirl's actions were 100000000000% perfectly understandable y'all just actively look for reasons to hate women.

Below the cut are a small selection of free-to-use headers made for tumblr!! Each one has a plain, transparent, and torn effect included. The transparent and torn effects will match your blog's background color (IF you save as PNG!)
Credit is appreciated but not necessary - all I have done here is spruce up the colors and edit them a little bit, they belong to Anet. All I ask is you don't claim them as your own, and consider reblogging if you like them!
I am happy to announce, that the ultimate guild wars 2 story journal text file is out!
It's a resource for anyone who wants to have their story written out, either to make a physical journal, print it, or need some inspiration for a fanfic.
It's 229 pages in total, but every possible race and choice (personal story) takes 79 pages. Version cleaned up for one character only takes 166 pages total.
The file is up to date with the latest expansion and will be updated with every new one.
You can download it from this folder:
I love the idea of magic use requiring a lot of calories, so magic users needing to just eat a lot more than one might expect. Probably at different levels depending, so an elementalist or necromancer would need a lot more caloric intake than a guardian or ranger, for example. But the principle would remain the same.
loving this headcanon so much... magic and biology/physiology is a niche interest of mine with fantasy!
i like to think that among gw2's professions, the intake from most to least cooould look something like this:
elementalists, necromancers, mesmers (use heavily taxing or complex magic, lots of brain power and physical magic stuff that needs to be supplemented by calories)
warriors and guardians (often on the frontlines of battle AND employ magic, i can see them consuming somewhat equal amounts of calories to the scholar professions)
ranger, thief, engineer (i can see rangers consuming a bit more calories compared to their peers solely because they often are in the wild and use survival skills, thieves and engineers probably have an intake considered "average")
revenants are a special case i like to think; i can see their ability to borrow echo abilities sort of overriding the need to back that up with caloric intake... perhaps they have to rest psychologically more?? but theyre very versatile, i can see their diet being more varied
of course i can see this varying greatly between individuals, dependent on race, physiology (such as body composition), genetics, etc etc. PLUS personal preferences when it comes to meals!
