Massive lore nerd and asura/sylvari enthusiast, altaholic extraordinaire, and extremely shy RPer hiding behind the guise of a raid instructor. :3 Likes/replies/etc will come from my main blog, @mekamaybe!
Hi, I’m Meka - your resident lore nerd, questionably present raid instructor, and terminal altaholic! I was using the url @portalentre for the last...literally forever, but I’m actually more of a ranger main than a mesmer one so I felt it was time for a change! Expect mostly reblogs with a lot of tag chatter, mixed with a tiny smidge of Original Content™ every so often (usually doodles or writing). Likes/replies/etc will come from my main blog, @mekamaybe!
In January 2023 I started hosting community art parties with my guild, Verdant Shield [VS] on the first Saturday of every month! Check the #VSArtParty tag for what people have been creating, and look over here for my own announcement posts about past/upcoming parties!
Happy hot hot hot July, everyone! I hope those of you who are participating in Artfight or any similar events are off to a good start, and those of you who aren't are having a good time as well! The first Saturday of the month approaches very soon, which means it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, [VS] Verdant Shield! Whether you'd like to use it for the usual motivation and inspiration, find new victims targets for your Artfight attacks, or just take a break from your current work and hang out for a while, you're welcome to drop by!
For those not familiar, art parties are a concept carried over from Final Fantasy XIV: in-game get-togethers for artists of all kinds to hang out, chat, and create together! For GW2 parties there’s more of an emphasis on hanging out and gathering references during the party itself, and then in the days/weeks following to work on your creations at your own pace and then post to the shared art party tag. We’ve used the same one (#VSArtParty) since the very beginning so you can go allll the way back and explore what people have made! The most important thing to keep in mind though is this: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!
Time and /squadjoin information is below the cut, but will also be posted again on the day of the party as squads go up!
Location Information:
It's apparently been forever since we've last been to a sylvari-based area, so that means Caledon is back on the menu! It's a very event-dense map, but surprisingly the bridge heading over to the Dominion of Winds in about the mid-center of the map....doesn't really have anything associated with it? Which is good for us since it means it's prime art party real estate! It's also conveniently located right next to Titan's Staircase Waypoint, so no funny business is required to reach it!
Time/Squad Information:
The EU server party will begin at 9pm Central European Time (aka 3pm Eastern Standard Time or 4 hours before in-game reset). I’ll be hosting this one on my EU alt account, so please either /whisper or /squadjoin Aemryn of Dusk for a taxi invite if you don’t end up on the right map!
The NA server party will begin 1 hour after the EU party’s official end, at 7pm Eastern Standard Time (aka 1am Central European Time or at in-game reset). I’ll be on my main account for this one, so please /whisper or /squadjoin Mheura for a taxi invite if you don’t see my customary white cat tag hanging around on your map!
For you earlybirds, the squad for the EU server half of the party is now up! If you don't see my white cat tag when you load in, feel free to /sqjoin or /whisper Aemryn of Dusk for a taxi! ♥

Happy June and happy Pride, everyone! If there's any month where I actually make my announcement post on time, this is the one to do it - next Saturday (June 6th) will be the first Saturday of a new month, which means it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, [VS] Verdant Shield!

Location Information:
I've decided to make the Lion's Arch Gate in Gendarran Fields the Official June/Pride Party Location™, since it's a spot that Tyria Pride marchers have passed through every year, and will pass through again later this month during the event! It's super easy to get to via either the literally-right-there Cornucopian Fields Waypoint, or by walking north out of Lion's Arch (Trader's Forum Waypoint would be closest)!
Time & Squad Details:
As always, there’ll be two parties - the first one on EU servers and the second on NA ones - with an hour break in between!
The EU server party will begin at 9pm Central European Summer Time (aka 3pm Eastern Daylight Time or 5 hours before in-game reset). I’ll be hosting this one on my EU alt account, so please either /whisper or /squadjoin Paranomalous Plexxi for a taxi invite if you don’t end up on the right map!
The NA server party will begin 1 hour after the EU party’s official end, at 7pm Eastern Daylight Time (aka 1am Central European Summer Time or 1 hour before in-game reset). I’ll be on my main account for this one, so please /whisper or /squadjoin Kirslyn for a taxi invite if you don’t see my customary white cat tag hanging around on your map!
Closing Words:
You of course aren't obligated to change up your outfit for the festivities, but feel free to do so (or bring any of those Pride-themed cryptids I've seen lurking out there) if you feel like it! At the end of the day these events are for all of you guys, and I really do enjoy hosting them even if I've been on the quiet side lately! Have fun out there, and I'll see you soon! ♥
The squad for the EU half of the party is now up for you earlybirds! If you don't see my tag right next to the waypoint, please /sqjoin or /whisper Paranomalous Plexxi for a taxi invite! ♥
I'm not an earlybird this time because I'm just getting the squad for the NA half up now! If you're not already here and haven't ended up in the same instance as everyone else, you can /sqjoin or /whisper Kirslyn for a taxi! ♥♥

Thinking thinking thinking so hard about Darkness Pays Orr A Visit, that one famous Orrian poem Trahearne loved whose final line was missing until we got that Orr bubble in Jahai that had the undamaged tablet with the whole thing on it. Just. You know. Thinking about it. For no particular reason. :)

one of the many things I'm excited about re gw3 is the nature of it being a prequel and all the free extra depth that comes from that.
you're a vaelwarden, a protector of the people and spirits of orr. all the good your vaelwarden does, all the happy things that happen to them are going to be underpinned by these bittersweet, tragic feelings of "but in the end it was all for nothing". and maybe some people dont like that, but I think getting to see orr have it's fleeting time on tyria is like. awesome. maybe the vaelwarden will love orr and put their entire soul into caring for it all. and one day it'll all come crashing down and sink to the bottom of the ocean.
I could go on about how that the temporary nature of all that good ultimately not meaning much is very. life. that's life. and it still matters even if it all vanished. it matters because it vanished. but then its also what happens in gw2 that gives it so much meaning to me.
sure, everything your vaelwarden achieves is temporary, maybe nothing much in the grand scheme of things. but like 1300+ years into the future after everything you worked for was destroyed, someone who has never known you and your story will come along and be so dedicated to reviving the land that you loved and making it something new and cared for once again. some guy, part of a race you could have never conceived of, will rally the collective effort of the world for the sake of removing the rot and filth from this ruin that was so long forgotten. that legacy will encourage a whole new generation of adventurous spirits to flock to this place because they see hope and potential in what it could become with some care. they carry on your work in a new way.
the will of determined people echoing throughout the centuries. an unseen line between then and now.
