Tired and sore, Mei slumped into her chair. Her body slumped and sprawled her arms out across her desk. She was content here for the time being, and no amount of pestering would move her.
Jack Morrison entered the room, raising an eyebrow at the slumped over climatologist.
“Rough day?” he asked with a smile.
Well I woke up.

“You’re right, Doctor.” the man said, understanding where she was coming from, he looked down at the footage of the EMP, seeing the crowds walking about before the blast goes off and the footage repeated. “I know we’ve disagreed on strategies before, I’m a soldier, you’re a doctor.” Morrison thought again about the death count.
“I need you to understand that it was more then just five targets. They were just a cover story, if five terrorists EMP a city block, that’s one thing, but the real threat was…”
The commander closed the door to his office and lowered his voice. “The real threat was an omnium in the area. Blackwatch had evidence of it creating an army designed to infiltrate and cause havoc by looking like the average citizen, if word of that had gotten out, we’d be right back at war with the omnics.” He matched her gaze, a veteran soldier’s determination not to go back to war within his eyes.
The Medic followed in afterCommander Morrison, waiting for hopefully a good explanation. It was quite known she’d come razing down the hallways fire in her eyes, only to talk with the commander and calming down.
As he spoke the doctor’s eyes widen severely. Another Omnium? One of those in the center of a city? That would lead to endless chaos and more death than she’d like to imagine. Her gaze softened as he finished his reasoning, and she shifted slightly back, her arms crossing.
“I wish you’d let me know about these things ahead of time Morrison. I hate coming down her and scaring all my interns, only to find out the truth.”She sighed and looked down at the floor for a moment. “I’m sorry for jumping down your throat.”
“No need to apologize. You were working with the information you had.” Morrison was happy that he had managed to calm her down and gave a small smirk at the intern comment.
“As for not telling you, Reyes was adamant that it was to be kept secret from everyone, and I couldn’t afford to piss him off until the threat was dealt with.” the commander’s smirk wavered “I’m sure I’ll get an earful from him later about telling you.” the soldier pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed “I’m sure you’ve noticed the tension between Reyes and I recently.”
We’re all soldiers now 12/20
He slumped his shoulders as he heard the total “Four hundred and forty seven? That’s…more than I anticipated, I’m going to have to have a talk with Reyes about his operatives methods.” Morrison rubbed the back of his neck. “You know I wouldn’t have authorized the strike had I known the casualties would be that high.”
“One casualty is high enough when it’s of the innocent Commander.” She shot back at him, her voice calming but her eyes blazing all the brighter as she seemed to stare into the man in front of her. “We are supposed to be peacekeeping, not acting like the very men and women we’re trying to stop.”

Morrison winced as he heard the voice echo down the hall towards his office.
He rose from his desk, closing the files he had open on his computer and opened the door that led out into the halls, the automatic door whirring as it opened. Morrison looked out into the hall, seeing a not too happy Angela Ziegler headed his way.
“What can I do for you, Angela?” the commander said, even though he had a feeling he knew what this was about.
When she got a few feet away and finally stopped, blue eyes burning as she stared into his own. “You can hopefully explain to me why four hundred and forty seven omnics had to die to capture five rogue elements ‽”
As she spoke she reached into her pocket to pull out the glass tablet she had with her, showing the holo vid of the emp explosion and the death total from it.
He slumped his shoulders as he heard the total “Four hundred and forty seven? That’s...more than I anticipated, I’m going to have to have a talk with Reyes about his operatives methods.” Morrison rubbed the back of his neck. “You know I wouldn’t have authorized the strike had I known the casualties would be that high.”

“Hey like this for a starter”
Mercy was a kind person, a patient person. Someone who wasn’t seen angry very often. However there were a few things that made her blood boil. And that included the slaughter of innocent people. Normally Overwatch stood for justice and keeping peace, but on occasion when the stress was high and people in the field thought it necessary it would lead to unneeded deaths, at least in Angela’s opinion.
Today’s anger was directed at a squad that had set an emp off in one of the larger omnic living areas to take out a few that were setting up to release a toxin into the air.
She ended up storming into catching up to her target a few minutes after hearing about this. He may have even been warned about her coming, everyone knew exactly who she went to after something like this.
“Commander Morrison, we need to talk. Now!” Her voice echoed down the hallways loudly, leaving no room for error that this was a demand and not a request.

✞ Do you believe in revenge? Exacting it on others? Others coming for you?
“I believe revenge is something only to be had with great reason and motive, it’s not a path you take lightly.”
"Uh... 'llo. I'm Doorkicker. I, uh, I blow up walls. That's my thing." (operationdoorkicker)
“Glad to have you aboard.”

“My greatest victory?” Morrison mused, rubbing his chin. “I’d bet you’d expect some grand tale of battle hard fought against the Omnics, but the scale of a battle has no sway over such things. For me, victory is in the calm, quiet moments that you may not expect.” The commander smiled.
“But I digress. My victory would be during one of the rougher times in the war. The team and I were traveling between battles, we had stopped to make camp for the night and this realization came over us all that..it was quiet, there was no gunfire or humming of robotics, just peace and quiet. And with that realization came another, that the war wasn’t the end, wasn’t how the world was supposed to be, and wasn’t what we would let it be. That thought gave us the strength and determination we needed to bring peace back, it was a far greater sense of victory then any battle could have given me.”
