âCouldnât we move further away?" Cloud said slowly. "I foresaw âA Friendâ and a length of time , and when the time had passed, you emerged." She continued more confidently. "I also foresaw âA Teamâ after that - a bit less than 3.5 cycles from now - then âDestruction and Salvationâ 0.2 cycles after that. Maybe the big gem will be our teammate to help us with whatever the third thing is.â
âBut I Saw we would be shatteredâŠâ Fern trailed off, still shaken by her first premonition.
âDo you want to be shattered?â Cloud snapped.
âNo! But âŠâ
Cloud sighed and continued, âDid you see how far the avalanche would extend?â
Fern was becoming confused. âYes âŠâ
âIf we went to the top of that cliff would we be safe?â Cloud pointed to the cliff opposite the one they had just emerged from. It wouldn't be an easy climb, but they could do it. Or they could levitate. They should probably do that.
There was a pause as Fern revisited her vision. She wasn't sure. The explosion was pretty big. âMaybe?â
Cloud frowned and pointed further. âWhat if we went further, to that cliff.â
Fern searched her memory. The gem emerges explosively, collapsing the rock around her. The nearer cliff is obscured by dust and debris. The farther one is still standing, untouched. âThat cliff wasnât affected in my vision,â she proclaimed.
âSo let's go there." Cloud did not quite smile. " We can come back to greet our teammate when the rocks are settled.â
