“Couldn’t we move further away?" Cloud said slowly. "I foresaw ‘A Friend’ and a length of time , and when the time had passed, you emerged." She continued more confidently. "I also foresaw ‘A Team’ after that - a bit less than 3.5 cycles from now - then ‘Destruction and Salvation’ 0.2 cycles after that.  Maybe the big gem will be our teammate to help us with whatever the third thing is.”

“But I Saw we would be shattered…” Fern trailed off, still shaken by her first premonition.

“Do you want to be shattered?” Cloud snapped.

“No! But …”

Cloud sighed and continued, “Did you see how far the avalanche would extend?”

Fern was becoming confused. “Yes …”

“If we went to the top of that cliff would we be safe?” Cloud pointed to the cliff opposite the one they had just emerged from. It wouldn't be an easy climb, but they could do it. Or they could levitate. They should probably do that.

There was a pause as Fern revisited her vision. She wasn't sure. The explosion was pretty big. “Maybe?”

Cloud frowned and pointed further. “What if we went further, to that cliff.”

Fern searched her memory. The gem emerges explosively, collapsing the rock around her. The nearer cliff is obscured by dust and debris. The farther one is still standing, untouched. “That cliff wasn’t affected in my vision,” she proclaimed.

“So let's go there." Cloud did not quite smile. " We can come back to greet our teammate when the rocks are settled.”

made some refs last year for artfight of my gem ocs, amber pearl, charcoal sapphire, and cloudy sapphire. only now did i realize i never... posted my ocs here... so i'm fixing that! their bios under the cut.

i have more gem ocs, but i didn't make their refs... i should fix that when my wrist is better

AMBER PEARL

A pearl who once belonged to a high-ranking hessonite, she now roams Homeworld pretending to be owned by someone who doesn't exist. She retains a snooty, uptight, snippy attitude to keep other gems away from realizing she is rogue. The only gems she truly trusts are other pearls.

Rumors about her hessonite have been spread, her fate unknown. The fate of her beloved pearl also remains a mystery, but behind closed doors, she was simply forgotten about. All Amber Pearl knows is that her owner isn't coming back anytime soon, and to relish in the freedom she has now before she's caught, rejuvenated and reassigned.

Her war fan was given to her as a "gift," although was more out of her owner wanting her pearl to be able to defend herself if somehow they were to become separated.

Amber Pearl has two looks. Her current look with her twin drill-like pigtails was crafted by herself. Her previous look was when she operated under her hessonite.

CLOUDY SAPPHIRE

Cloudy Sapphire is chatty and often has her head up in the clouds. As an airheaded sapphire, her predictions of the future are accurate but always vague. Her frustrated superiors keep her around because she at least does her job.

CHARCOAL SAPPHIRE

Charcoal Sapphire is… relatively speaking, a normal gem. She holds a positive attitude and preforms her duties with no issues. However, she's not exactly a normal sapphire. While most sapphires treat their future vision as reason to be passerby in their own lives, Charcoal Sapphire often sees it as reason to be proactive. The thing she hates most about her duties is having to let things happen, and it drives her insane. Because of this, she has little sapphire friends. Other gems, however, are a different story. She has plenty of non-sapphire friends, although does not see them much.

She loves a planet's scenery outside of Homeworld colonies, when a planet is left untouched by gems. She wishes to explore these planets and learn about its ecosystems, however she is doomed to let Homeworld continue its tyranny.

Cloudy Sapphire paced back and forth, waiting for the friend she had foreseen.  Who would they be? Would they emerge from the cliff, like she had? Would they come from off-colony? A quartz? A peridot? A ruby? A jade? Her vision only told her when, not what.  

Celata V was not a large planet, and rotated quickly. Cloudy ignored many sunsets and sunrises as she paced.

1.7 cycles .... 1.2 cycles ... 0.9 cycles ... 0.4 cycles ... 0.1 cycle ...

Finally, her internal timer ran out.  A flash of light caught her eye.

Acting almost on instinct, Cloudy Sapphire turned and looked up.   A small, sparkling figure drifted toward her.

The Friend.  Another sapphire.  Hopefully this one is less defective.  So... why was the Team not complete?  3.5 cycles left.  What next?  And how would they deal with the threat to come?
