I got an idea for a Steven Universe Fan Comic I want to make but I need background gems! Specifically Spinels but all types would be welcome.

This comic would take place between the movie and SUF.

So I’ve mentioned a few times that the main cast of One Siren’s Soul originated in the form of previous OCs.

One Siren’s Soul Fun Fact #7

Over half of the cast are based on gems. Fan characters from a fan universe I constructed from the foundation concepts of Steven Universe. Yeah.

A lot of their character traits (and even some of their backstories!) arise from the physical and metaphysical properties and other info about the original gemstones, so hey, if you want some out-of-context spoilers due to symbolism and stuff, google searches are fun~

Celestine = ... Celestine. Wasn’t very creative with this one but it turned out that it was an actual Spanish name so I ran with it.

Chrome Diopside = Dione!

Onyx = Phoenix (I WAS. SO PLEASED WITH HOW WELL THIS ONE FIT.)

Bronzite = Colin (wha where’d that one come from??)

Iolite = Io

Desert Rose = Rose

Green Zircon = Xuân

Chartreuse Pearl = Hana (Yes some of these don’t line up so well but there are REASONS)

Apatite = Alixandre

Powder Blue Spinel = Nieva

Desert Sage Jasper = Forest

Schorl = Shen

Milky Quartz = Unnamed Character that’s gonna be kinda important book two

Labradorite = Sort of kind of Light

A lot of the other characters have traits drawn from or inspired by my other gem characters, but they’re not as direct. So yeah! If you didn’t already know (I’d be?? Surprised if you didn’t???), Quill is a complete gem nerd.
