idk we gotta get way more comfortable viewing trans womanhood as just like. yet another form of womanhood. there is a group of women gate-kept from the knowledge of transition and from gender affirming care and from being included with other (cis) women, but they’re not, like, newcomers to woman island. they just grew up in a different “place” than cis women did, and their experiences with egg cracking / transition / etc are also all different (there are some girls who transiton is teens, there are some who transition as fifty year olds, etc) because they are a whole group of individual people under a common identity. but idk being forcibly kept away from knowledge and means to embrace your identity does not mean you are lesser in terms of your relation to that identity. we gotta be fr about that.

I will never get 4tran language. You call the brothers that support your gender identity by names based on their genitals, falsely calling then akin them to cis women--no--GIRLS, in your mind, no matter how much or little they "pass".

“Woman” is such a diverse and wonderful label. It makes me so deeply sad that so many People can only see it as performing a very specific Gender presentation, and having very specific viewpoints. Women are just as complex as Cis Men, there is no right or wrong way to be one. Women are People, not tools, rhetorical or otherwise. Some of you appear to have forgotten that. The way in which you treat Women as a physical manifestation of (Trans)Feminist Theory is, ironically, incredibly (Trans)Misogynistic. You are denying People their Humanity, and if there is one thing that is true of all Women, it is that we are Human.

Theory is a description of reality, what else could define what a woman is if not a theoretical model of gender based on the reality of women's lives?

I think what defines a Woman is whenever someone says that they are a Woman, and therefore whatever that Woman experiences is a Woman’s experience. These experiences often overlap, but not all of the time. That is it. Also, theory is called “theory” because it is not an objective fact, it is a framework for seeing the world. Theories draw from real-world phenomena to attempt to describe our world, but that does not mean they are 100% correct all of the time. Would you consider Right-Wing theories a description of reality? Or would you consider them a purposefully misguided and dangerous attempt at taking real-world issues and misconstruing them to meet the oppressing class’s goals? To give a specific example, would you consider TERF’s theory of what makes a Woman a Woman a description of reality?

I find it very telling that I have not received a response to this.

Considering how it is incredibly well know that a default distrust and hatred of masculinity led to radical feminism and trans exclusionary radical feminsts, a group that is incredibly violent and hateful to trans women, I find it fascinating (read: Incredibly short sighted and foolish) how many trans women are openly embracing that kind of rhetoric. They seem to alternate between "fuck terfs!" and "I really vibe with the idea that masculinity is inherently evil and corrupts everything it touches"

You get the feeling that to some trans women the problem is not that terfs are bigots, but that they target trans women specifically.

Fascinating how so many of them have rejected bioessentialism to instead sort of gendered soul essentialism where a trans dude is the same as a cis man due to an evil male soul, but in a way that is still bioessentialist because somehow trans dude having biologically female parts is a moral failing because you have an evil male soul and therefore aren’t supposed to be affected by systemic misogyny, that’s something that’s supposed to happen to trans women because they have good female souls and therefore are incapable of misogyny because no woman has ever been sexist before.

Correct me if I am wrong, but to me it seems that most of the People targeted in these ban waves that People are talking about are notorious for some form of bigotry or another, usually Racism and Transphobia, and they tend to remake their Blogs anyway. This sounds more like facing the consequences of your actions, rather than a “lynch mob” out to get Trans People, to me.

I am aware that Trans Blogs are sometimes restricted or deleted for supposedly being explicitly NSFW despite very little evidence pointing to that being the case, however these are not the Blogs I see being talked about lately. Instead, I am mostly seeing discourse-centric Blogs at the center of these talks. I am aware that mass reporting can cause a Blog to be deleted, but if that mass reporting is due to a Blog perpetuating bigotry, that is not the same as TERFs targeting Trans Blogs with the goal of eradicating them from the website. Being deleted for being a bigot is not the same as being deleted for simply being Transgender.

I suppose what I am asking is: does anyone have any data on Blogs that have been banned in the past couple years? I am genuinely wanting to understand how Tumblr moderates Trans-run Blogs in comparison to Cis-run Blogs so that I can form my own thoughts on the matter, as I am positive there are elements of the issue that I am missing. I do not want to dismiss the claim that Tumblr unfairly targets Trans People, but the current discourse makes it difficult to discern who has been banned for Transphobic reasons and who has been banned for being a bigot.

Just saw the claim that "more people need to play around with the fact someone can be neither cis nor trans" and I want to dig into that.

Firstly, cis and trans are not genders, they are descriptions of a relationship to the systems of power that surround gender. A trans woman's gender is the same as a cis woman's gender, but the trans woman will have a different relationship with the ability to enact womanhood.

Second, cis and trans are direct inverses in a way man and woman aren't. Man and woman are (poorly) defined collections of traits that are not mutually exclusive while cis and trans are, again, relations to systems of power that are mutually exclusive. You are either oppressed for crossing the borders of gender and sex or you aren't.

Third, this idea is clearly a product of the third gendering of trans women. It's an extension of "do what you want forever" politics that don't engage with the material realities of our society, and is frequently used by cis women to claim the aesthetics and culture of transfem culture as their own while claiming trans womanhood as a different womanhood from cis women's.

This feels presumptuous about how other People experience their lives. Why can there not be something that is not either Cis or Trans? How does having a term for something other than those labels enable Cis Women to “claim the aesthetics and culture of [Transfems]?” If a Cis Person is so intent on infringing on Trans Culture, what is stopping them from doing so, regardless of what they label themselves as? In my experience, Cis Women do not wait for an excuse or convenient label to take from Trans People.

Additionally, not all Trans People see their Gender as a direct parallel to Cis People’s Genders, and that is okay. There are People who consider their Trans status as their Gender due to a variety of reasons. There are even People who we could technically classify as Trans, such as Two-Spirit People, but saying that they would fit into the exact same paradigm as the typical White, Western “Cis V.S Trans” framework would be very reductive as it ignores other important parts of their identity, such as their Race and Culture.

Additionally, how does “do whatever you want forever politics” not engage with the “material realities of our society”? Is the point of “do whatever you want forever” not to directly challenge what is acceptable—in this case, within the realm of Gender?

Like I'm sorry but this gets under my skin so badly because I was there, I was in those trenches, on multiple different sides of it, I experienced most ends of that discourse from 2012-2018, it was primarily binary trans men using the word theyfab out of their own insecurities invoked by the idea of people ""like them"" identifying as trans but not as binary men.

This is why I believe that the majority of Trans People spewing TRFism online have only realized they are Trans in the past couple years. So many of them appear to have little to no knowledge of the past decade of Trans spaces online, and given how prominent Transmedicalists and general Transphobes like Kalvin Garrah and Blaire White were, I find it very difficult to believe that these People simply forgot about them.

Additionally, even if calling out Transmisogyny was the original purpose of the term, it still is bigoted and does not actually refer to ideology in the way terms like TRF or Transmed do. Th*yfab is a combination of pronouns and assigned sex—“They” and “AFAB,” markers of one’s Identity with no inherent tie to ideology. Meanwhile, TRF is “Trans Radical Feminism/Feminist,” meaning Radical Feminism adapted to Trans People—it makes no inherent indication of the Gender Identity of the Person who it is attached to. I am not trying to play a semantic game like People do with Transandrophobia, I am trying to point out how this term is clearly not intended to confront bigotry, but instead to perpetuate it.

If this is how most TRFs think, it explains why they are so incredibly exclusionary and hateful towards other Trans People. This is putting your own thoughts and opinions before other People’s Humanity and Womanhood. TERFs’ reading of Womanhood is that Cis Women’s suffering is noble and unavoidable. Cis Women are supposed to suffer, hate those they deem as Men for their suffering, and achieve some sort of moral purity by doing so. If you are AFAB and disagree with a TERF, you are outcast and smeared as a traitor.

TRFs’ reading of Womanhood is that Trans Women’s suffering is noble and unavoidable. Trans Women are supposed to suffer, hate all Men but especially Trans Men, for their suffering, and achieve some sort of moral purity by doing so. If you are Trans and disagree with a TRF, you are outcast and smeared as a traitor.

My reading is that Womanhood is whatever someone who is a Woman experiences. Every Gender struggles differently and the experiences of Women often overlap, but there is no universal Trve Suffering.
