“I wanted to do this growing up, I went to school for it, I went to Binghamton University and majored in theatre, I even taught theatre, but I made a shift pretty early on after college, I was like “oh you know what I feel like I want to start writing music, then started to do well at that and left musical theatre by the wayside. I never really had that sort of traditional Broadway voice. What’s so great about this show is that they really embraced non-traditional singers and I saw Brittain Ashford singing “Sonya Alone” and I was like “oh my gosh, I think I, like maybe I could do that?” I love theatre, I love going to the theatre but I wasn’t really thinking this was ever going to happen, honestly. But it’s just so different and so interesting and I’d never seen anything like it before so to be part of something that’s so revolutionary - how could I not?” - Ingrid Michaelson (Sonya; “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812″)
