Quite a few things have happened since the last time I actively posted anything about my life.
Greg and I got married in 2018
We bought a house in 2019.
My parents moved to Colorado in 2019.
Greg accepted a job at Facebook and he moved to California in January 2019. It wasn’t till February we saw each other again. And would go 4-6 weeks without seeing each other till June 2019.
I herniated disks in my lumbar spine and experienced true 10/10 pain.
I was then on light duty for work for over a month. The whole experience was good as I was able to do my physical therapy and still help out at work. Being on light duty also gave me some valuable skills and a much deeper appreciation for a nursing unit’s HUC/unit secretary - they are the absolute backbone of the unit.
A friend of mine lived with me for a couple months for his BSN Capstone/Nurse residency program from February to April.
Sadly, Polo, our black cat, passed away in April. I was really glad my friend was still living with me at the time. She was truly my shadow and I still miss her very much. Sika also misses her a lot.
Greg and I drove out to California in July. My back flared up and my job start date at my new job was pushed back.
We adopted another black cat and named her Morticia. Sika despises her still 😅
It was an extremely hard decision, but we decided that Silicon Valley was not the place for us. Greg went back to his previous role. He was working. And I went back to where I was previously working.
In December 2019 we moved back to Minnesota. we picked an apartment in downtown St. Paul I had amazing views, and was close a bunch of walkable bars and restaurants. We were so excited to have her friends over!
March 2019. Do I really need to say anything else?
March 2021 our niece Summer was born, making Greg and I uncles for the first time.
July 2021 I did the unthinkable. I became a dayshift nurse.
Also July 2021: we bought a house.
September 2021: we move into our house. But first we had the pleasure of taking wallpaper off the walls.
Turns out going to day shift didn’t make me hate work any less. I applied for and was offered a job in interventional radiology. I accepted the position in January but didn’t get to start till late February 🥴
February 2022 I start my new job and really liked it, but then the reality of getting to the hospital within 30 minutes was setting in. My drive in would always be unpredictable. There were several times that I was getting mighty close to hitting that 30 minute callback time.
And that brings us roughly up to now. I just had my last shift in IR and will be starting my new clinic gig on Monday.
