Look at him!! Eddie is so happy that he got his Buck back. That Buck is accepting his help. He probably doesn't want to let Buck out of his sight ever again. Everything will be okay because his guy is right there in front of him, making his usual (flirty) jokes. And whatever happens next, they'll face it together, one day at a time. Eddie is so in love. i saw people saying that we thought eddie would be mad at buck, that they would fight, but in the end the only person eddie was mad at was himself. and that's why, despite wanting eddie to realize what was going on with buck and help him, i still liked how they handled it.

for me, it was their way of showing that even if we feel like there is something wrong with our partner, they can and will try to deceive us, making us doubt ourselves. they make us feel as if our worry is unfounded when in reality we are right and they need our help. buck did that; he didn't want anyone to know what was happening, but he especially didn't want eddie to know because he was afraid. afraid of showing this side of him and disappointing eddie.

and hen comforting eddie and telling him it wasn't his fault is so special because she went through the same thing with eva. she knows how it is to be in this situation, she knows how it feels, and she doesn't want eddie to feel guilty because at the end of the day he did everything he could to help buck, but buck didn't want to be helped at the time.

and now that he wants help, eddie is there. eddie is supporting him and that's what matters.

to eddie, chain of command means he and buck are tied together and they carry the weight together and they take care of each other. respecting the chain of command means respecting the system that lets them all keep each other safe. buck's never really gotten that because he doesn't operate the same way which is why eddie looked at him with his big brown eyes and explained that "chain of command" just means "i love you i love you i love you"
