What is a web directory and what are they for?
Web directories are mainly for new sites which need page or domaine authority. If you want to atract visitators you need a good position in SERPs for a keyword(i suggest longtail keywords). The keyword that you rank for should be relevant for your site content and like that you can find people who are interested in your site.
And about directories. There are many categories so you have to take care which one you will submit your site to. One category that i mentioned is computer directory. If your site is related to things that go in the area of computers, this is the type of directory that you should be interested in.
