Sun Xun traverses centuries of Chinese art styles in one astonishing painted folding album
An elaborate painted album that riffs on centuries of Chinese art styles while it comments slyly on the cultural revolution, contemporary China, and more is in Sun Xun’s exhibition The Time Vivarium, opening Friday at Sean Kelly.
After you see the paintings, check out the artist himself in his animation studio downstairs. He’ll be in residence all month creating an expressionistic, stop-motion film.
