my mum rlly doesn't know how to help people with bad mental health. she told me the other day, while talking about a family friend, that they passed out from not eating/sleeping due to hyperfocus and their family rushed home to take care of them. Obviously awful and horrifying. However, i was curious about it because I also don't eat very much at all and I hadn't yet passed out, so i was wondering how it got to this point for them.

She said oh, it was because [friend] actually has REALLY bad eating problems and REALLY bad struggles with their adhd, not like you. Yeah, sure you don't eat much but its not like, serious or anything, like their issues are.

For context, a LOT of my issues stem from feeling like im not [insert bad thing here] enough to need help for it, and therefore i need to be MORE [bad thing] to punish myself to make up for it.

anyway. after that interaction. guess who went from 1-2 meals a day to 0-0.5 out of embarrasment!
